Don't be discouraged by negative reviews! If you follow the directions (especially about taking your ice cubes out of the freezer for a few minutes before starting to shave the ice) it should work well for you. We were dismayed when we read the reviews after buying it as a birthday present for our Freezee-loving son, but then were delighted (and relieved) to find that for us, it works well. Read the reviews and thought we would give it a shot. If you've had a Frozen Coke before you probably have wanted to make them at home. Skip this machine as it will turn out nothing like the ones from McDonald's, Burger King, 711, etc. This will just chunk your ice into tiny bits but they do not retain liquid. So if you drink with a straw you will suck up all the liquid and the ice will be left over, the ice will not move through a straw like a standard Frozen Coke. We are returning ours due to this and just purchased something about 6x more expensive but gets the job done much closer to the real deal! ... show more

I did a lot of research before I bought this product, Many people said it did not shave the ice very well, It works great if the ice is large enough, I had to buy ice from the corner store due to the ice in my icemaker was not large enough, So the larger the ice, the better.

Early impressions coincides with many others- ice is simply crushed. Loudness was not too bad, easy to use and it's a real looker! I will experiment with leaving ice out of freezer longer and post if I have any success. As for now, ice chunks are slightly smaller than a home freezer crushes them, yet the drink seems to stay colder longer and doesn't taste watered down even when it's nearly 2 hours old. I find myself drinking less soda and more ice without sacrificing taste which is a good thing. Also, the outer box was pristine but the actual product box had some damage and broken seal. I'm wondering if this was a return? ... show more

I bought this as a gift for my boss for christmas and he was like a little boy opening his first gift! He was so beside himself with excitement (he loves coke icees). As a gift for a man, I wasn't sure if a kitchen appliance was the way to go, but this is great for any gift idea!
