  • Incredible Trail Shoes for a Great Price
Product Review: NORTIV 8 Men’s Wide Toe Box Trail Running Shoes Rating: 5 stars (Initial Impression) As a dedicated runner who exclusively wears high-end, name-brand wide toe box and zero-drop shoes, I was skeptical about trying a more budget-friendly alternative. However, after getting the NORTIV 8 Trail Runners in hand, I am genuinely impressed. They are nearly identical to the premium brands I usually swear by, and dare I say—actually more comfortable right out of the box. The Breakdown Comfort & Fit The "foot-shape" geometry is spot on. My toes have plenty of room to splay naturally, which is a non-negotiable for me. The cushioning feels plush yet responsive, and I haven't experienced any of the typical "break-in" stiffness you find with some trail shoes. Aesthetics & Build Visually, these shoes hit the mark. The look and style are modern and sleek, comparable to shoes twice their price. The build quality feels surprisingly solid; the stitching is clean and the materials don't feel "cheap" or flimsy. The "Missing" Features If you are a serious trail runner who uses gaiters to keep debris out, there are two small omissions to note: There is no metal attachment point at the base of the laces. The heel lacks the Velcro "Gaiter Trap" strip. While these are missing, they are very easy DIY modifications to make if you’re handy with a bit of adhesive Velcro and a small attachment ring. Pros: Cost: A fraction of the price of big-name brands. Comfort: Honestly feels better than my "name brand" pairs. Style: Great colorways and a sleek silhouette. Cons: No Gaiter Attachments: Missing the front loop and rear Velcro. Durability: Yet to be tested on technical terrain. Final Thoughts (For Now) I haven't had the chance to put these through the ringer on a technical trail yet, so I can't speak to the long-term durability of the outsole or the upper mesh. However, based on initial look and feel, NORTIV 8 has produced a serious contender in the wide-toe-box category. I will update this review once I have 50+ trail miles on them to see how they hold up! Update: I just finished a 28+ mile run on pretty technical trails and the shoes were great. I have just shy of 50 miles on the shoes and have had zero issues. They're great! ... show more

  • Great option if you're looking for a wider shoe
Size: 12 Color: Light Green
Nice looking shoes with great support and cushion. The wide toe box has been fantastic due to some nerve issues in my feet. These are now my most comfortable shoes. Durability seems good even though they are extremely light weight. My wife even ordered some for herself.

  • Great value and comfort
Size: 12 Color: Black/Light Grey
Excellent shoes. I was looking for something with the roomier toe box. The shoes are incredibly comfortable. Nice roomy toe box to accommodate long toes. The thicker bottoms offer great support as well as cushion. Great alternative to the Altra's i have purchased for years. Better value. More comfort. We shall see how well they hold up for durability. So far so great. I even bought another pair. ... show more

  • Poor Man's Olympus
Size: 9.5 Color: Black
UPDATE... After wearing these for 2 months the inside padding of both heels has completely worn off. They have zero grip on wet surfaces like water crossings, wet rocks or logs, etc. Definitely for dry trails only. They are very comfortable but lack longevity. For the price they are still very good. I was looking for daily walking/hiking shoes so I didn't wear out my expensive trail running shoes. Size is spot on. I wear men's 9 in summer with thin socks, and go up 1/2 size to 9.5 in winter so I can wear thick wool socks. The insoles are thick and nicely cushioned, but lack the extra heel pad, so I just put my own insoles in and they feel great. Zero foot pain. Plenty of room for my bunions too. These are very similar to my Altra Olympus. 2 ounces heavier per shoe, no Vibram sole, but plenty of grip for moderate dry hiking. ... show more

  • Fantastic so far - continued
Size: 11 Color: Light Green
Wow! These are the best shoes I think I've ever worn. I'm only a couple of months into them, but the comfort is still incredible! I love the wide toe box and drop (like my old ALTRA's) but these have a better feel/cushion. The grip on the AZ trails is amazing, they are a little dirty, but look and feel brand new. Even the sole is holding up far better than I expected. I'm not running in these yet, but at my current weight, the grip on the bottom of these shoes should be wearing down - and they're not. I'm definitely buying more! ... show more

  • A well-padded shoe that justifies a price just a few bucks more than cheaper competitors
Size: 13 Color: Black
These shoes are surprisingly high quality for their price. Arch support is quite sufficient and the overall experience for me is of even pressure on all parts of the foot, without anything over- or under-padded. These have a cushy amount of give without feeling mushy. The wide toe area is quite accommodating. If you're worried that all the sizes say "wide", don't sweat. This only refers to the toe box and the fit otherwise is snug but not binding, and the shoes are true to size, at least for me. These cost a touch more than cheaper Chinese wide toes, but make it up with increased density of the internal padding. The inside cushion is not removable, but I don't see that as a problem given the comfortable insides of the shoe. The medium-weight sole seems destined to consistent long term wear. ... show more

  • Pretty close to the Olympus but not quite there.
Size: 12 Color: Black/Light Grey
I am a big Altra Olympus user. But like most users I dont like to pay the higher price. I tried two pair of these Nortiv 8s in size 12. My opinion is that these Nortiv are not nearly as quality as the real Olympus. The standard insoles can be removed and your favorire insoles can be added. The shoes dont feel nearly as comfortable as the Olympus after a 4 mile jog. The tread is less and they dont feel as comfortable on the bottom of my feet. On the plus side the Nortiv is a pretty good clone. For easy use in walking and light running I think they can fill the bill. My opinion is at this low price give them a try and they might be good for you. YMMV ... show more
