  • Good for the Price
The boots wear well. They do not rub blisters or cause discomfort right out of the box. The waterproof feature is, in part, based on the tongue being a single attached piece that meets with and folds back from the two sides at the top gap. This is a common design and works well enough. However, I have a narrow foot and would expect the laces to close the gap more and the fold-back to be more pronounced. In reality the fold-back only bunches up a little because the gap is not vey big. Basically if you have a wide foot you may be in trouble. I'd go up a size. Also, the top metallic lace clips are far too tight. I have to force the laces into them. The grommets are also difficult to pull the laces through. Bottom line is it takes a minute to get these things on in the morning. I don't want to sound like these are not worth the money. Just know that you get what you pay for. The XPETI boots I bought previously were much more comfortable and easy to lace up - right up until they fell apart within a few months. These NORTIV 8 had better reviews and cost less. And so far they haven't fallen apart. A major plus in their favor. ... show more

  • Love the color and fit
If your anything like me, I must have comfortable shoes on my feet. The Nortiv8 hiking boot is ready for long walks on the trail or long hours on the job. In the picture you may have noticed I changed the sole from grey to black. This is a quality boot well worth the price. I have three pairs.

  • Typical inexpensive hiker
Bought these for the combination of price and aesthetic. I prefer brown leather boots/shoes that I can wear with khakis at work or cargo shorts in my free time. These fit that bill. I also like the speed lace lugs that are at the top two positions of the lace pattern. That said, the lace lugs feel as if they're snagging the laces, almost like the openings are sharp and not filed down smoothly enough. I go to tug on the laces, and I feel like I'm having to overcome more friction than I should be (as if the lugs are 90-degree corners instead of smoothed curves). I'm concerned the laces won't last. Also, fully laced, the laces are a couple of inches shorter than I prefer. I've tried lacing them a different way to get a few more inches and that seems to work, but I don't like lacing them this way. I ordered a size 10.5 wide if it was available, or a 10.5 if wide was not available ... I don't recall if this was the boot that was wide or not. Regardless, the shoe fits, but it's a little bit on the small side. I've never needed an 11 and the one time in my life I bought an 11 because it was the closest fitting size the store had, it was too large. So I know my size, and it's 10.5, and this pair of boots runs a little small. The sides rub on my toes just a little more than they should. I know that seems a small thing, but it will cause socks to wear holes in them sooner as well as cause foot issues in time if the shoe doesn't stretch out some to accommodate. They are not uncomfortable, but they're just not quite right. I'm not a fan of the construction. I prefer boots with Logger Heels and Goodyear Welt construction and boots made like these are made (with the soles merely cemented to the uppers) usually only last me about a year -- and are holey by then at that -- and are not repairable. I also don't get the point of the "protective" rubber toe on the front. It just looks out of place and serves little purpose, but that's an aesthetics choice I guess. Overall, they're not ugly, but they're not impressive. They are inexpensive, however, which was a key requirement, and for that I'll see how long they last. I bought another pair of another brand at the same time so maybe between the two pairs I'll be able to keep my feet covered for a while. UPDATE 2022-07-27: I've decided to return these shoes. I wrote them two or three days, and on the last day my arch was aching. A day or two in my other pair and my feet were fine. After a few days wearing the other shoes, I put these back on, and my arch was aching before I even bent over to tie the laces. Decided to return these shoes. I need some jogging sneakers instead anyway. ... show more

  • The best boots for the price
Size: 12 Color: Brown
These boots are awesome! I abuse them well beyond their intent at work all day every day and they still stand up over a year later. I've paid over $100 for boots that die a lot faster than these, these are tough and well worth the price.

  • Great customer service and decent boots for the money
Size: 11 Color: Brown
First Review: The top 4 eyelets (top 2 rows x 2 eyelets each) do not leave enough room for the lace. I like the boots otherwise and decided to take a screwdriver and open the gap in the eyelet allowing the lace enough room to move easily. Well, that was a mistake! A little pressure and the eyelet broke. The metal is cheap pot metal, and will not bend. I checked several older boots I have and they have steel eyelets that allow for bending if needed. I bought these for farm use and decided to rig my own solution to the broken eyelet. I may update the review later when I have enough info to assess comfort, durabilty and waterproofing. UPDATE: After my first review, the seller reached out to me and said they were sharing my concern with the manufacturer and that a redesigned eyelet may be forthcoming in 2022. They also offered a refund or replacement. They reached out to me a few times after to make sure I was satisfied. I'm very impressed with their concern for their customer's satisfaction. The boots are very comfortable and are holding up well to farm work. I would classify these as water "resistant" rather than waterproof. A smaller dameter boot lace would help with and perhaps solve the eyelet design issue. Overall, a good buy for the money, especially considering the excellent customer service. ... show more
