    • Inexpensive, but not cheap

Basic, no-frills hiking boots at a modest price point that get most of the important things right. An inexpensive alternative to premium brands, which can easily cost $100+. For the most part these are decent boots. Upper is fake leather with nylon panels for breathability - it's as good as any vegan leather alternative I've seen. Ample cushioning around the ankle. Sturdy metal eyelets and strong braided laces. Thick foam midsole with a robust rubber outsole. It's not the good sticky rubber that I've got on some of my shoes, but it still provides reasonably good traction. For an inexpensive shoe these are built pretty well. The only place where you "feel" the low price is the insole. It's just not a comfortable shoe - cushioning is a little too firm, and there's virtually zero arch support. I get that you don't want too soft a shoe for hiking, but this one feels hard as a rock. If you've got even a little bit of an arch you'll need to add an insole. But for the price it's hard to complain. Maybe not my first choice for hiking the PCT, but if you can get the cushioning figured out you'll get a lot of life out of these boots. ... show more

    • Great Smooth Trail Walking Boots

I freely got these Boots to test. + They are of a lightweight but strong infrastructure. Legs won't get tired with these on a long walk. + The ankle support is well adequate for normal walking if the path would facilitate only minimal twisting & climbing. + The shoe laces are the type that don't come undone so easily. + The sizes for Americans (my size 10) were correct, not too large or too small. (Some may want the next half-size smaller.) + The tread is not completely flat but smoother for comfortable walking on gravel, grass, sand, flat rock, concrete, etc. ?- I haven't yet tested them in very wet conditions like in a steady rain. - While the tread is adequate for light trail walking or for grassy trail hikes, I'd not recommend them for substantial hiking on more than light-duty trails. To me, they are not intended to climb on steep or slippery surfaces, holes, ruts, jagged rocks, slippery downed trees, etc. I do highly recommend these Hiking Boots but with the above considerations. ... show more

I recently ordered the dark brown hiking boots in size 10.5 for my husband. He typically wears a size 10.5. The boot is really nice looking. The construction looks well done. These fit as expected. They are lightweight. The cushion isn't impressive. There was some rubbing around the ankle area and he has small ankles. These will likely be his back up pair. ... show more
