Description

Read more The Chair After the High Chair The cure for fidgeting! On an adult chair or a dining booster, your child’s feet dangle or they sit on their legs, cutting off their circulation making them uncomfortable and fidgety. You probably didn’t even know your child was so uncomfortable at meal time causing them to fidget! This is actually a long term problem – your child cannot sit properly positioned in an adult chair until they are at least 10 years old. Additionally, if your child isn’t positioned correctly they may have more difficulty swallowing and it can actually impact speech development. Ready to grow Your child's motor skills are constantly evolving - and the results are greater competences, needs and independence. Nomi provides support for every stage of your child's development - from newborn to teenager. Read more The Creation of Nomi Nomi Philosophy European families like to have their children at the table with them, not in a highchair isolated from the family meal time. By sitting with the family, they learn manners, social skills, and are an active part of family conversations. Designer - Peter Opsvik Norwegian designer Peter Opsvik spent his entire career studying what he calls ‘active sitting.’ None of us sit still – especially children – so how do we accommodate this need for movement while sitting? His philosophy is that children need a stable platform from which to move – so the child will sit actively and varied – but stay seated. Active Sitting Peter Opsvik has been designing chairs for active sitting for over 40 years. In 1972, Peter Opsvik designed the Tripp Trapp Chair for his son, which brought his child up to the table, and brought the floor up to his child with an adjustable foot rest. Nomi (2013) Fast forward to 2013 when Peter’s first granddaughter was born. Based on his 40 years of seating design experience, he knew he could do better. The result, the Nomi Chair. Nomi is the evolution of the original concept, utilizing more modern materials and technology, resulting in a sleeker design, making the daily use of the chair simpler. The seat and footrest are always at the proper depth thanks to the unique curvature of the stem – no need to worry about that when making adjustments. Easy to Clean The sleek design has minimal places for food to get trapped, and simply wipes clean. Top Amazon Reviews

  • I was surprised, and then shocked, and then surprised, and then really happy…
So we actually bought two of these. One for our 2 year old and one for the baby due in April. I don’t often write reviews (but read a ton) but I liked this so much, and this one didn’t have any when I bought the chairs, that I was inspired to write my thoughts. Here it goes: Construction: The frame (stem) of the chair is made of laminated hardwood. I like it because by just feeling it you can tell that it’s probably going to last for a long time but it’s also flexible enough to give my kiddo a very slight flex, almost like a rocking motion, when she’s using it. The backrest, seat, foot support, and the feet that give it support are all made out of a hardened plastic, but the feel is smooth enough and the back is contoured so it looks comfortable. We’ve had some major spills to clean up and this is by far and away much easier to clean than the old one we had. Design: This was the real reason we ended up deciding to buy. When I first heard about this high chair from some friends I looked on Amazon (like many people) and about had a heart attack when I saw it was $380. I’m not someone that would typically spend a ton on something like a high chair but I did some additional research and found their actual website (something called evomove??) and better understood why it costs as much as it does. When you buy something like this you’re making an investment And you’re buying multiple pieces of furniture all at once. The whole point is that it’s something you buy and can keep using for 20+ years. That’s why even though I was originally surprised at the price I ended up buying 2 of them. My kids will use these now and they can grow with them until eventually they just become normal chairs. Our friends have had theirs for a couple of years (I think they brought it back from a trip to Europe) and their son loves it so much he will literally drag it into different rooms where he wants to sit. Also, it’s designed so when the baby comes and we use the second one, the bouncer/positioner (which they call the “Nomi Baby”) is at a height that will allow us to pull it up to the table during meals. Options: There are a ton of different colors and accessories to choose from. We decided on the light frame and black seat/back as we thought it was the most “classic” and wouldn’t go out of style. We also bought the cushion for the chair and the bouncer and tray for to be ready for baby two on the way. The bouncer wasn’t inexpensive, but we want to be really inclusive with our children and it’ll be WELL WORTH not having to bend over a thousand times like we did with the old bouncer that you had to put on the floor. So overall it wasn’t bad when you take into consideration what you DON’T have to buy. We figured we would test out to see how comfortable the cushion is with one and get a second down the road if it makes sense. Overall: Obviously it’s pretty early in the process as we’ve haven’t even used the second one yet, but everything we’ve experienced so far has been pretty amazing and lived up to the hype. I can’t get my daughter out of it now that she’s gotten used to it and we plan on having these for years to come. If you are on the fence whether or not to buy it or even just thinking about it, I would say go for it. It’s worth it and you won’t be disappointed. We weren’t. P.S. – If you actually spent the time reading this entire book about a high chair, congrats and welcome to the club of obsessive-compulsive researchers like me. ;) ... show more

  • If you want your child to actually sit at the table, buy this!
Style: Premium Walnut Color: Gray
We had a bench at our dining table and our 4 year old would either "sit" on his knees and bounce around, or slide back and forth and fidget the until he eventually would just get up and walk away. He's too big for a booster (and unwilling to sit in one) and not quite tall enough for a regular chair. We got the Nomi highchair for our baby and we love it so much that we thought we'd try the chair for the big kid. It is life changing! He loves it, is so much more comfortable, is now at the appropriate height while sitting on his bottom and has the foot rest for extra comfort and better posture. He is also able to pull himself in or push back from the table effortlessly, so nice for him to feel so independent. It's so easy to clean since there's no fabric on it at all and it's also light to just lift and hook on the table to sweep or vacuum under it. I also love that it has such a small footprint compared to other highchairs. So easy to assemble and looks really sharp since I ordered the stain that matches our table. We plan to use this char for many, many years. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Great Chair!!
Style: White Oak Color: Coffee
We love this chair!! The Nomi Chair has changed our way of life at the dining room table. We have a 2 year old boy who is very impatient. Our standalone highchair was just not cutting it anymore. He would refuse to sit in it for more than 5 minutes at a time. After doing some research I found an article on the Nomi Chair. Basically, saying that because of the adjustable foot platform and seat the child would be more comfortable because he/she has the ability to move around to stay comfortable. This made sense to me because our boy is short and his feet could not reach the foot platform on the standalone highchair. With the Nomi Chair we adjusted it directly to his short height, fitting him perfectly. The Nomi Chair has increased his time at the table 100%. Dinner time is now relaxing without him immediately wanting out of the chair. He loves “his chair” like crazy. He will climb in it himself and ask for his stuff to color. It is unbelievable how much he enjoys being in that chair. The best part is, we will be able to use this for years! He can utilize it all the way into adulthood. This is one chair that does it all! My wife and I are incredibly happy with this purchase! ... show more

  • Simplistic design
Style: Premium Oak Color: White
We love this chair-the design, the simplicity, the changeable tops, and the fact that it is easy to clean! The only thing we have had trouble with is the clips on the interchangeable tops. When trying to secure the child in, the clip isn’t very user friendly. It is secure, once you get it there Other than that, we would highly recommend! ... show more

  • Versatile, child friendly and good looking
Style: White Oak Color: Gray
This is the second one in our family. Our older kid refused to give it up for the younger one. That says a lot. It is more compact than usual toddler high chairs, which is great and actually looks presentable at the table if we have company. The older kids can move it around easily, climb up and down themselves. We now have the whole line from infant attachment to child chair and it is great, very versatile. ... show more

  • Solid Construction & Beautiful
Style: Premium Oak Color: Black
The chair is thoughtfully and beautifully designed. It is solidly constructed while being light weight and has an elegant aesthetic that matches any decor. It takes less than 15 minutes to assemble. Once assembled our toddlers got on their chairs themselves, pushed themselves towards the table and comfortably we all ate together. Our 10 year also enjoys sitting on the chair because his feet touch the base instead of dangling from the adult sized chairs. We might have to order another one. ... show more

  • Good looking and sturdy with brilliant adjustment design
My 4 year old son love his new chair! He can finally climb on and off by him self. The height adjustment design is brilliant! And looks way more better than a normal high chair.
