  • Excellent value for what it does
I bought this for a specific job. My wife decided that the driver's side door of our Kia Sorento was far too undamaged, and decided to run the car down one of those yellow, round, concrete barricades at the drive-through ATM. After the car came back from the body shop, I noticed a tremendous amount of wind noise when driving it on the highway-like the window was down a 1/2". I checked all the weatherstripping and door fitment-all good. I also noticed that when I closed the door, it had a hollow, tinny sound, like my old Chevette had. I figured that the body shop had failed to put the factory sound deadener back in, a white, fibrous material, kind of like furnace filter material. I took the door panel off, and it was, indeed, missing. I called the body shop, they apologized, it had been thrown away, they'd have to order another one, another day without the car, blah, blah, blah. I had experience with a competing product of the Noico stuff, and it was far more expensive, so I purchased the Noico product to replace the factory material. Now the door shuts like (I would imagine) a Bentley, like it's made of one solid piece of material. Honestly, the whole car is quieter from doing one door. I also applied it to the backside of my rear license plate, which always had a little bit of a rattle, which is gone as well. The wind noise is 95% gone. I think that because the factory material is fibrous, it sucked up wind noise. I'm going to put a piece of universal filter material in there and see how it goes. Despite still having a little wind noise after installing the Noico product, I'm still extremely happy with the overall results and the sheer amount of noise that is gone from the car, much of which I didn't really even notice until is was missing. Installation notes: 1) I purchased a cheap roller, mainly due to the small size needed for all the nooks I had to deal with. If you're using the product on a larger, smoother surface, spring for a better roller. I used to have a heavy rubber roller with a wood handle and heavy steel roller frame, which I miss dearly, look for one of those. The cheap, lightweight style makes it very difficult to compress the diamond-shaped impressions on the metal outer surface smooth, as the instructions direct you to do. 2) The instructions say the use of heat is optional. Use it-after sticking the product down and before you roll. Use a hair dryer or a heat gun (on low), you'll get significantly better results and the product will conform to oddly-shaped surfaces better. 3) The product cuts very easily and cleanly with with any average pair of scissors. 4) As you can see from the photos, I used metal tape on the seams and edges. I recommend this, as it keeps the roller from sticking to the butyl along the edge and will assure that the edges never lift-although the product is sticky enough that I doubt it would anyway. The first pic is everything cut and laid out, the second is the finished job. I used less than half of the box for this job, including what I used on the license plate. ... show more

  • Easy to use and it WORKS.
I used this product to line the panels of a 1994 Goldwing restoration project. It was easy to cut to shape and apply. I slit the foil facing and it tore cleanly along the line in the shape I needed. It stuck well without any drama. I like how it added weight and substance to the plastic panels. As I hoped, it cut all vibration (not much to begin with) and engine noise. What I was looking for really was to eliminate the noise the panels make when you hit a jarring bump in the road. This did the job. The bike is quieter than the day it was made. I'm very happy with this product and will use it again on future projects. Thank you. ... show more

  • If you are on the fence of which sound deadener to buy...
BUY THIS. I debated heavily between this value sound deadener or the far more expensive, yet famous, Dyna Mat. I read a lot of reviews for both. I wanted to stop the trunk rattling from my Rockford P3 and step up the quality of the bass. I heavily weighed the cost of Dyna Mat and it’s legendary performance versus this unknown (to me at least) contender. In the end, I’m cheap so the Noico won out. The packaging is well done and the sound deadener itself was tucked nicely inside. I LOVE the diamondback raised finish on the foil side. It makes it so much easier to see when the deadener is applied correctly - something you will come to appreciate as your arm feels like it’s going to fall off from rolling it on. First, use some isopropyl alcohol to clean the metal you are attaching this to. Let it dry. Cut pieces to form and start rolling it on (use a metal roller with ridges, not a rubber roller, seriously - metal roller with ridges). Noico deadener adhered easily to my car. It took me about 45 square feet to COMPLETELY cover my trunk, top to bottom. It’s heavy stuff (should that matter to you). Make sure to reach in between metal panels to apply deadener to that metal too. Overkill perhaps, but the price of this sound deadener warrants doing so. After reinstalling the trunk lining, I used heavy duty duct tape to cover up the foil backing that was still visible as I did more of a patch job to get complete coverage. Probably took me 4 to 5 hours to do the trunk bed, sides, deck lid, and the rear deck that sits above the trunk - I actually used two layers there as that was my main rate culprit. I love how my trunk ‘thuds’ when closing it after applying this stuff! Now, you can stand outside my car by the trunk and you won’t hear a single rattle (yet, at least - I’ll pound it till bolts start rattling loose, lol). Overall, I am extremely pleased with this product and it’s performance. Don’t mess around with other value brands or even the name brand - this will be your Huckleberry. ... show more

  • This is some great sound deadening mat at a great price
This is some great sound deadening mat at a great price. It is very easy to install and I like the diamond ridges so you know when it is all pressed down correctly. It is very sticky but not overly so, so if you need to remove it and adhere it again you can as long as you dont roll it down. I used this without a roller, and used my finger because I could not get a roller into the tight spaces. I would say get more than you need because you can use a lot. I did the entire Jeep Wrangler with what I had all four speakers. If you have a subwoofer you may need a little more. The price on this is great for the value, and it cuts very easily to fit whatever space you have. Its heavy duty but can rup easy if you dont wrap it in every nook and cranny. ... show more
