  • Best I've Found
I have 3 daughters who tend to have long hair, but we still had managed to escape lice -with one minor incident several years back, which was taken care of super easily - until a recent camp retreat (not certain, but most likely place she got it). I tried the Nix 3 step that I got from CVS. Found nits, but never ever saw a bug. Treated. Found more nits the next day, no bugs. Treated a few days later "just to be sure". Thought we were good. Waited a few days, still found nits, no bugs. I assumed "hey. She has a lot of hair, I can't find them all... right?". In the meantime, I ordered this shampoo and when it arrived, we decided to treat one more time. She said she was itchy, but from what I've read. You can still be itchy for a week or 2 after they're gone. This. Worked. Perfectly! I put the shampoo/gel on her dry hair like instructed and totally saturated it. I actually combed out at least 3 adult lice and a bunch of baby newly hatched lice (remember in all other treatments, I never found an actual bug). I was fascinated... a little appalled that these bugs were crawling on her head, but totally amazed that I was finding all this when I hadn't had any success with earlier products. Maybe it's the comb, which seems a bit tighter in the teeth than others, maybe the solution... but either way, this product works! This will be the only product I use if godforbid we have to deal with this again! ... show more

  • A solution for disgusting lice infestations
My SD came home from camp with lice this summer and she is still finding live lice and nits after 2 months. I panicked when the back of my head started itching weeks after she was treated so i took a barber's comb to my hair and unearthed a few nits. I immediately ordered this to treat my own hair even though i hadn't found any live lice. The product is basically an oily, runny shampoo that you leave on for 10 minutes and then add water to work it into a lather. I opted to condition my hair after i washed this out because my hair is extremely thick and long. It's worth mentioning that i color my hair every 6 wks and somehow these pests survived those caustic chemicals! Also another reviewer mentions covering the hair with a shower cap...there are directions on the package saying NOT to do this so read the box and pamphlet inside thoroughly. This is also flammable so no hair dryer. The nit comb that is included is essential to getting rid of these things. Nothing else will catch them because of their tiny size. It's been a few days since i treated and the few lice i had found are gone. I'm still combing relgiously after i shower. The nit comb is murder on thick hair so using conditioner is probably the only way to get through that part without utter frustration. The product gives you enough for 3 treatments if you have shorter hair. My hair is 5 inches past my shoulder and there is still some left. Enough to retreat as directed 7 days after the initial treatment. My SD didn't use this identical product and we're still finding live ones on her so i would have to suggest that this works better than the standard Nix product. Defintely worth the $20 for the peace of mind. ... show more

  • DOESNT WORK
This doesn't work... I've bought 9 of these at 20. - 30.00 a piece followed the directions on the package and still have these terrors.. My routine has been shampoo and pick pick pick with the comb both wet and dry hair, also daily launder anything Ive worn including coat and clothes, bedding , towel, pillow, vacumm furniture where I've sat also any carpeting and vacumm bathroom floor and then swifer where Ive stood to comb out.. Also sprayed a RIT brand spray for furniture another 20.00 also sprayed in my car.. Not to mention that this greasy mess got into my eye and gave me a chemical burn which I flushed out with 99% saline solution, but low and behold now I have a cornea abrasion and can't see out of that eye, the doctor 85.00 office visit gave me a prescription for eye drops 6.00.. now I've got to go see an optometrist this has been a week for the eye and everything is now blurry with eye only 1/2 open and the light kills me.. In all this has been going on for over a month after catching the lice from my granddaughter who got them from school.. I've lost so much hair which was to the middle of my back to begin with, the breakage is unreal and I've had to cut 4" off.. It's not the lost hair Im worried about it's the bugs and the blindness... Yes, I've tried olive oil, coconut oil, tea tree oil, and mayonnaise.. the only thing that has slowed this whole ordeal was slathering vaseline over my entire head and shower capping that for 10 hours then combed out with dawn dish soap 3 washes and finally combed through with conditioner, I did see a lot of black specks come out... comb comb comb... My fight continues.. good luck to you...Hope this helps.. Update its been a well since I wrote the review and I still can't see out of the one eye. Still fighting now there's nothing alive that anyone can see but feel movement another treatment of vaseline 10 hours and comb comb comb finally feel that we're getting somewhere. Praying to God for an end ... show more

  • Did the job, would buy again if I needed to
Basically like a bottle of oil but got the job done. 2 bottles were enough to treat my daughter and i 2x and now we are lice free.

  • Almost effective
I tried this on my 3 girls and myself when we had lice in the family. It got rid of them in my short hair, but after multiple treatments at the prescribed interval the kids still had lice. Fewer lice, but not zero lice. And one is too many. We ended up just going to a local lice removal place and, $850 later, we got them taken care of completely. ... show more

  • Literally works
This is a very natural method of getting rid of lice if you haven't really gotten lice before. I had a family member get lice for the first time and the first thing we did was comb her hair out, then use this and have her sit for 30 minutes with it, followed by a shower. We combed her hair again, and it's been two months and she hasn't gotten any ever again. ... show more
