    • Genius Budget Hack for a Middle School Green Screen!

If you are a teacher trying to incorporate green screen technology, video editing, or stop-motion animation into your classroom, you know how expensive professional backdrops can be. I bought this 15-pack of Niuara Green Plastic Tablecloths to use as disposable green screens for my middle school media and tech projects, and it has been an absolute game-changer for my classroom budget! The Good: Perfect Color and Incredible Value The shade of green on these tablecloths is absolutely perfect for chroma keying. I was a bit worried that the plastic would be too shiny and reflect the harsh classroom fluorescent lights, but when stretched taut against a wall or a bulletin board, our iPad editing apps picked up the green flawlessly. The background keys out cleanly without leaving weird halos around the students. With 15 massive 54" × 108" cloths in a pack, I have more than enough to set up multiple filming stations around the room simultaneously. Middle schoolers aren't always the gentlest with classroom materials, so the fact that these are cheap and disposable means I don't have to stress if one gets ripped, taped over, or drawn on during a chaotic project. We just pull down the damaged one and tape up a fresh sheet. Why It’s 4 Stars instead of 5: Thin and Prone to Creases The only drawback to keep in mind if you are using these for video production is that the plastic is quite thin. Because they come folded up in the pack, they have distinct crease lines. If you don't tape them down tightly to stretch out those wrinkles, the shadows in the creases can confuse the green screen software and cause the background to flicker. Also, because they are lightweight, they can be a bit translucent if you place them directly over a brightly colored bulletin board—I had to double-layer a couple of them to make sure the background wall didn't bleed through the video. Final Verdict For standard party use, these are likely just your average, reliable disposable tablecloths. But as a creative classroom hack for teachers on a budget, this 15-pack is pure gold. It provides a massive, effective green screen setup for pennies on the dollar. My middle schoolers are having a blast creating digital projects, and my wallet is incredibly happy! ... show more
