I'm a long time nintendo fan, I've had to skip the last few consoles unfortunately, life and work and all that, but this has been a great console to jump back in on. It's really user friendly. I thought the portability and controllers being detachable was kind of gimmicky, but it's actually pretty handy to be able to pick it up and play away from your tv and it's base. I rarely do it, but as more of my friends get the system I imagine it'll happen more and more often. The detachable controllers actually feel kind of good too. I've got pretty large hands and have always preferred the xbox controller (ergonomically superior imo), but the adapter that you receive with the 2 controllers to combine them works very well. That being said I bought the pro controller, it looks and feels almost exactly the same as the xbox controller, so it's perfect for me. Loved getting Mariokart 8 with this console as well. I still remember the epic battles my friends and I would have playing mariokart 64 over 20 years ago, and the newest mariokart does not disappoint when getting a group together and playing to rekindle that nostalgic love we all share for the game! I've also bought the newest super smash bros for this console, and it's amazing, definitely a must buy if you enjoy fighting games or have been a fan of the smash bros. series in the past. The system can on time and I love that it came bundled with a game! I'm glad I got this deal for $299, so basically the game was for free! I'm a 30 yr old woman who loves playing video games. I haven't had a Nintendo system since my Gameboy Color haha! I love how portable this system is and how it can also hook up to a tv as well! I wanted something I can take during my travels for work and leisure and also set up on a big TV screen. There are multiple ways to play the system: hook it up to the TV, carry it around, take the joy cons off and set the screen on a stand, and the screen is touch screen! The Switch is awesome! I was seriously debating making this purchase for the Nintendo Switch. Like many people, I was looking for diversions for pandemic boredom. I haven’t purchased any. Intends product for over 15 years, but the Switch it totally worth it! It’s a great console with super flexibility. Smash Bros. and Mario Kart are super fun for the family. I don’t write many of these and I must admit this review is slightly premature, but given my history with Nintendo, I have good faith they manufacture quality products. I bought this as a Christmas present for my girls, but of course I had to get it out to check it out and set it up. It is a good thing I did. Once it was hooked it up to our WiFi, it required a system update. I was also able to input a few parental settings. This is completed using a parental controls mobile app. (This is also a great tool to see how much your kids are playing as it sends time updates if you request them.) We also downloaded the Mario Kart game. Depending on the speed of your WiFi, this could take 30-60 minutes on top of the previous setup, totaling approximately and hour and a half. I hope this review is helpful for planning. Before placing it back in the package to wrap, my husband and I each played a time trail race, for quality testing of course, and we were very impressed with the graphics and variety of courses and options! On Christmas morning, it will be true benefit to have it ready to play out of the box! I’ll be ready to play right along with them! ... show more

    • One of the best videogame systems I've ever played
I've had many videogame systems, from the original Nintendo, to the PS1, 2, 3, to the Nintendo Wii... and I really think that this one is the best in terms of flexibility & fun (which is the main reason for playing videogames!). Other systems may have better graphics or sound (Xbox/PS4), but the Switch really is the most FUN. Can play in the car, then get home & drop it into the dock to play on the TV, and the graphics look great. The main panel is touchscreen, you can add your own MicroSD cards (no need to buy proprietary OEM cards (Sony, looking at you)). We've had a blast playing with this system over the past few weeks. Nintendo really nailed it with the Switch. If I had to find a complaint, it would be the small size of the controllers, but it's still perfectly playable & Nintendo seems to have balanced size & convenience with playability. The buttons aren't too small to press accurately, and it quickly becomes second-nature to play. Looking forward to many fun games in the future. ... show more

    • Very good but there were issues upon arrival..
UPDATE: It took about two weeks but Nintendo sent me a new unit. My son has been thoroughly enjoying it ever since! I have changed the rating. I got this for my son as a Christmas present. He really liked it for the four hours that he got to play it. It quit working when trying to use it the following day. I have to send it in for repair and will have to wait up to a month to get it back. Nintendo has great customer service but obviously they need to work on quality. I will update this review after I get it back and my son plays it for more than a few hours. This was his only present from me so it's pretty disappointing to both of us. ... show more
