  • Military Grade Night Vison at a Bargan Price!
The media could not be loaded. 13+ yrs US Army Special Forces, I've been around night vison a lot. From Gen I stuff thru Gen IV. This little Night Vison Scope does exactly what it says. Unboxed it & wanted to test it, added 4 AA batteries and BAM! Nightvison! I live out in the high desert country where we have no illumination except the stars and moon. No moon last night and I could clearly see 30 yards with the ambient star light. Turned on the internal IR one level and Double BAM! I could light up my neighbors houses clear, at 100 and 175 yards each! Going up on the internal IR just started to White Out the neighbors house! (Adobe style construction) I also bought an additional IR illuminator Flashlight, Ultra-Fire 850mm Focus Adjustable IR Led Flashlight Infrared Light Torch for Night Vision, OMG! It lighted up across a canyon to the other side 450yards away making shadows behind the trees and this little scope saw it all clear as day. Very Impressed with this unit. Simple to operate too. I'm older and have no desire to need an I-Phone or other device just to use a night vison unit. The included IR Flashlight will be tested as soon as I get some CR123 batteries today. I'll update my Review. If your hesitant about this unit due to it's apparent inexpensive cost, don't be. It may look rather unique but it does exactly what they advertise and exceeds at it. This Ugly Duckling IS Really a SWAN! So far, very satisfied. It will be mounted on a 9mm carbine for night time varmint hunting along with the added IR lights. Once tested, I'll do another review after Xmas. UPDATE 01/27/2020 OK, I've had a chance to shoot this bad boy on several ARs. First off, I didn't like the way I had to stretch my neck over to view thru the scope properly on my 9mm Palmetto State carbine. So I raised it up an inch with a riser. Still hurt my old neck. Then I decided to put it on my AR A1 Carbine (Old School what can I say) Mounted fine on my carry handle mount and Wha-La! raising up my head, was easy to see thru in the proper manner. So out to the range I went in full darkness with a full sized silhouette and a Metal Plate target. Put both out at 100 yards. Don't bother trying to zero this at 25yrds or closer as it can drive you nuts. It is not like zeroing a regular rifle scope. It is moving a crosshair (or other reticle) around on a TV Screen to line up with your rifle's point of impact at that distance. Couldn't go down far enough to do a 25yrd zero. So I just went out to 100 and banged away. Windage and elevation knobs worked fine no issues there, didn't loose the caps in the dark either. I was using a white/tan target that ended up reflecting the IR Light so much All I saw was a white rectangle even with a 6" Black Tape square in the center of mass area. I could only use the lowest IR Setting for the internal IR or else I white washed the target at 100 yards. So, I finally used a multi intensity positional, zoom in/out Tapco flashlight and I zoomed it in on the target on the lowest brightness setting and was good to go. Low ambient white light or flashlight works really well with this unit too. Zeroed no problem but didn't like the reticle being so low in the field of view on the monitor. I realized a rifle length barrel would actually bring up the point of impact a bit so Off to the house to re-mount the scope on my good old A1 (Yes carry handle again) and then back out at dusk the next day. I outlined the silhouette this time in Black Duct Tape and put a Crosshair in its middle. Wow talk about easy to zero! Actually brought up the point of impact for the scope darn near back up to center of the screen. 1" groups were piece of cake and the steel plate thudded true every time. OK now for the down side and issues. This thing can eat some batteries if you allow the Internal IR to be left on. I started turning it off every time I went down range to check my targets. This helped the battery to last the two and half hours I was out there the first time. The second trip out I had put in fresh batteries and did this On/Off drill with no issues from battery depletion for over three hours. OK, the manual says it may turn off due to recoil. This can be true but as advertised she came back on within a second or so and right back on target. This is apparently due to the individual batteries moving around in the tight compartment just enough to disengage from their contact points. So I put a small strip of duct tape on each inner battery to rub on the batteries above them and then a small strip of duct tape on the inner battery cover to hold the upper batteries in place a little better. HA! Problem solved! I'll just add a little strip onto the inner wall of the battery box for the inner batteries so I'm not "Taping Up" batteries for use. I'm sure the folks at Night Shot could do some sort of rough grabby stuff inside their battery box area to prevent batteries from any movement on recoil. I also bought some more costly lithium Double-A's and am sure I will get even better time from these. Also before you criticize my Carry Handle set up remember I can actually get to the battery compartment easier now and don't have to take off the scope to do it. I think I will try this set up on my 9mm carbine using a detachable carry handle mount. I'm betting that will work fine as well. Now, about that Internal and external IR lights. First off the internal IR is excellent for anything under 100 yards. I really like the fact that you can use it on low medium or high. The external side mounted IR Light is literally a Flood Lamp! I didn't even need the additional Ultra Fire 850 IR Light I had purchased. This side mounted add-on can literally Wash-Out your target well out to 200 yards no problem. My advice to all is to mount this baby for comfort and battery change and then zero it to your preferred shooting distance and learn your hold overs/unders for other shots and go on out and have some fun. Good batteries are a must but either way double As are always cheaper than 123s. If your looking for an inexpensive night vison scope that actually works and won't cost you an arm or leg and doesn't require a IPhone to "Down Load" some app just to use, look No Farther. This little Ugly Duckling can and does perform like a champ. Hope this helps you. Update 02/10/2020 Added Pics of Scope Mounted on my AR A1 carry handle model. Again as stated previously, it is much easier to look thru the scope when it is raised up higher off the weapon. The attached video is that of two deer at 56 yards down the hillside from my back door. If you can make the screen bigger its easier to see. It was extremely hard to hold my phone against the rubber eyepiece and the rifle and aim it at the deer and keep the phone focused at the same time. These are NM mule deer that frequent my backyard. You must remember to keep your eye at the same distance from the viewing screen of the scope while pushing against the rubber eyepiece and the focus will stay the same. The focus looks blurry in the video initially because I had it already focused for the distance to where the deer are (56yrds) If you are using this scope for hunting, I advise you to use a table, bipod or shooting sticks to hold up the weapon so your left hand is free to adjust the focus knob to whatever distance the animals are at, or you can always bait them in to a pre-focused distance and you will be Good to Go. Again, mounting the scope on a carry handle made it mush more user friendly (for me at least). As you can see in the video, I am using the side mounted IR light and have the internal IR light Off. I love this design as it puts You in Charge of what IR Light your using. The Side mounted IR Light is great out to 200+ yards so long as you don't have a lot of vegetation right up near you to get white light back-flash from. Guys, this is the most fun I've had with a night vision scope since A-Stan. It is really worth every penny. Just keep good batteries in it and don't be dropping it left and right. It's not GI Proof,...yet. If you wear glasses it could be challenging due to the rubber eyepiece pushing against your glasses but once adjusted focus for a specific distance it does work great. I hope this helps as I am sure there are others out there who want affordable night vison scopes for their particular guns for various reasons. I am 100% happy with this purchase and cannot recommend this set up enough. I think Night Owl would be smart to run with this model and improve on it as far as durability and battery securing. Additional pic rails and possibly a more solid mount system for the attaching IR would also be appreciated. They make Mil-Spec Night Vison for Military Contracts, I would like to see them take this unit to the next level with some minor improvements but keeping the price still affordable. Hope this Update helps. ... show more

  • This scope is the equivalent of much more expensive scopes.
I live on a ranch in the west. A friend of mine had shown me a rifle that had an ATN scope that cost $2000. He told me to wait until dark and try the night vision. I was amazed at how this scope turned everything to daylight. I didn't want to (or have the money) to spend $2000 on a scope, so I got to checking out other night vision products, including monoculars and binoculars. After over-researching this, everything kept coming back to this scope. I bought it, and it is fantastic. At first I put it on an AR15, but really have no reason to be shooting that at night. However, I already had a rail that was raised, and the scope attached right to it with no adjustments. As a note, the front attachment on the scope is picatinny, and the rear attachment is weaver. Personally, for what I was doing, I wish both were weaver, but it turned out to be a non issue. I have a Ruger 10/22 varmint gun, and decided to try it on that as well. Again, it fit perfectly, and when I took it out to zero the scope in daylight, it really didn't take too much adjustment. It is easy to attach and detach, as is my regular daylight scope. I switched these scopes back and forth several times to make sure they would zero back, and both did. That is probably a credit both to the rifle and to the scopes. As a daylight scope, this night vision is not very good, but that is not what it is intended to be used for. As a daylight scope you will not see nearly as much detail as you will with a regular scope. However, the it turns the night into daylight. Here on the ranch there is hardly any light pollution, and it gets pretty dark. I was focusing on a fence that was about 35 yards out. I shows up very bright. When I raised the scope and looked around, I was able to see cattle out about 100 yards or more. I could even see the illumination of an ID tag in a bull's ear. (I could only see the tag, not read what was on it.) That was pretty impressive to me. The controls of the scope are very straight forward. There are three buttons on top. I won't go into the functions of each, but just leave it that they are very simple to use, and pretty much self explanatory. Basically, there are three types of sights-- a cross, a T, and a dot. These can be viewed in either black or white. Mostly I prefer the black as it shows up better for me. The scope uses four AA batteries. I used the life extending lithium in everything. I like this feature because AA batteries are accessible to buy and don't cost that much. The scope also comes with an extra infrared attachment that screws onto the side of the scope. It uses two 123 batteries, and is recommended to use in order to double the life on the AA batteries in the scope. It is light weight, and is a nice addition to the scope. My recommendation is that this is the best value night vision scope for the price that I have found. Granted, there are better ones, but they will cost a lot more money. Also, as another side note, this scope doesn't have video are picture taking abilities, as some of the high dollar ones have. To me that was a non issue, and if a person is wanting to record or photograph wildlife at night, there are better tools to do that with, rather than using a rifle scope. My recommendation is to buy it and enjoy it. Hope that is helpful. ... show more

  • Used and came with batteries already installed!! REALLY??? AN EMBARRASSMENT!!!!!
I purchased this scope for a scheduled hunt with my team. I received it today. As soon as I opened the box, I knew something was wrong. The scope had user marks all over it, as did the actual box it was in. In good faith I was willing to at least put some batteries in it- to see if it worked because again, I have a time crunch for this hunt. To my surprise, it already had batteries installed in it. LOL, I swear I'm not making this up. I turned it on quickly and realized it doesn't focus on anything. wow, great first impressions "NIGHT OWL". I am returning this item and I will be telling every hunter I know...and I know a lot..about this incredible disgusting experience. Worst of all, I will not have a scope for my team hunt. Guess I'll sit this one out!!! Thanks, a lot "NIGHT OWL" DO NOT buy this scope. ... show more
