I have an older house, so tons of windows for natural light. BUT .. I don’t like the heat and don’t always want it so bright. Also not a fan of uncovered windows at night. Haven’t had them long but I already really like them. Really are black out curtains and I do notice the heat staying out. Hasn’t been too cold out yet, but can definitely tell a different with heat would expect the same for the cold. Though will say they had wrinkles out of the package and just hung up to see if they’d just pull themselves out but so far still wrinkled. May have to take down and throw in the dryer for a bit. But overall really like these a lot and definitely will be buying more .. when my husband isn’t paying attention. ... show more

    • Best curtains ever, worth the money

I work the night shift and any light that hits my face will wake me up and I can't go back to sleep. Because I've been searching for the right curtain for so long I layer them on top of each other to block as much as possible. I had an eclipse black out on top of a room essentials blackout curtain and it was okay sometimes the light would still wake me up. I put these up last night and I got the best sleep of my life. (My smart watch even said I slept better lol) I initially woke up to use the bathroom and didn't check the time, I opened my bedroom door and it was bright and sunny outside but my room was almost fully pitch black! Only a bit of light seeped through the sides but its nothing a push pin can't fix. I recommend you measure your windows and buy the next width up. My window was about 36 inches in just the glass part, I got the 42 inches and it more than covered the window glass and the outside of the frame. When I bought these I wanted a pale pink, the color is very nice and not intense. They should just call it pale pink because it's not much purple in the color. I also bought this used from the Amazon warehouse, they were in perfect condition, just wrapped in some plastic instead of the original package. I don't care though because I ended up paying $21 for two of these amazing curtains. If it's on sale stock up they're worth it! Also I was not paid or given anything for this review! I moved into a townhome and bought some cheap curtains because there were none on the patio. Eventually I had bought curtains for other windows ass well (als cheap but better at blacking out. Recently I had upgraded my entertainment center and wanted to make it movie theater dark in the living room and my current curtains + blinds were not up to the task. I checked amazon and came across these. I bought 8" for my patio and entryway, I bought 4.5' for my windows. Now my living room can be made dark at any time in the day. These look and feel so much better than my cheap ones, and honestly they weren't that much more $$$. If you need great looking and or room darkening curtains definitely check these out, available in quite a few colors. Also I measured wrong the 1st time and they took back that one no problems. The smart phone is automatically lightening the picture, but to the naked eye this room is darker with the shades closed. I have a small room and dark color curtains would make it smaller, so I really wanted white & was unsure if the curtains would work in my room. The white shades with the black sewn on the window side work terrific & I am very happy with my purchase. The curtains are on the heavy side, so the rod does need to be screwed in the wall. If living in a dorm I’m not sure how a temporary application would work. I’ve seen cloths for windows with Velcro application which might be better for a dorm or RV situation. ... show more

I was skeptical of this at first because of the claims that it would block out heat and light, but they are truly amazing at both! On our second floor it gets way too hot but these made a huge difference and kept the whole floor 5-7 degrees cooler right away. I like how when you're standing outside you can't tell we have any light on either, they are that good at blocking it out. I first bought these in white and sea teal a few years ago for our apartment. We've now purchased our first house, and I'm gradually putting these in every room! The greyish green and navy shades are slightly lighter than the pictures. The sea teal is a little brighter. They grey is pretty accurate to the pictures. As others mentioned, the white curtains have a black lining, so they're just as effective as darker colors. I now have 20 panels of varying sizes and colors, and haven't had an issue with any. I agree with other reviewers that the fabric is much nicer (and true blackout level!) compared to other products. I also appreciate the wide variety of lengths and widths they offer. I use a steamer to remove the wrinkles, but I'm sure the dryer trick others mentioned would work too. Given the quality, I think they're a great value, especially if you buy them on sale. That happens pretty frequently - use Honey's Smart Droplist if you'd like the track the price automatically. Keep in mind, you need to hang your curtain rod higher and wider than your window to block out more light. I measure the space between the window frame and ceiling and go about 2/3 of the way up (you can install it higher if you want, as long as you have enough space for the curtain to slide). For width, I try to go at least 6 inches out from the window frame on both sides. This helps with blocking light, but also means that the curtain won't block any of the window when you do open it. Depending on your home, it's also best to have the curtains reach to just above the floor (assuming you don't have radiators or similar). You'll want the curtain width to be 1.5-2 times wider than the rod, so that they look full. ... show more
