I live in a big city and off a busy main road, I realized my bedroom window was completely transparent at night so I needed something more than the sheers I had. These bad boys do the job! They are totally black out curtains, my phone adjusted to the darkness in my picture but they really do cut off all the light coming in and giving that privacy I was hoping for. They don’t have a texture type surface it’s a smooth surface, which to me didn’t really matter they aren’t ugly or cheap looking. They definitely have some weight on them at least 4 extra pounds hung up. Bc of it being a heavier curtain I can definitely imagine it will insulate in the winter and keep in the AC in the summer. They do muffle sound, just not drastically, which for me was totally fine but if you’re looking for noise cancellation these aren’t that. I was able to easily layer my sheets over the white panels and it was perfect, super happy. ... show more

These curtains arrived and cover the window perfectly. The rings are sturdy keeping the material from being damaged. The outer material seen from within the house is very soft to the touch. The curtains do exactly as advertised, blocking light from the outside except a small stream from above the grommets, reduces sound and is thermal insulated. Living very close to a school means there are happy children playing at the crack of dawn, none of which can be heard within the house with these curtains up. The main set is in the living room to block the glare of light from impacting view of the television. The curtains come in a variety if plain colors to match most household aesthetics. It isn't something my mother would want to decorate her home during every change of season but if you want a nice set of functional blackout curtains, I would recommend this product. ... show more

i mean i know it says blackout curtains but i wasn’t expecting to wake up at seven in the morning and be confused LOL. i woke up and looked around and thought “oh it’s probably only 3 in the morning let me go back to sleep” and i slept for like four more hours and when i woke up and it was still dark i was confused, and so when i checked my phone and saw that it was one in the afternoon my mouth dropped. opened the curtains and i was wonderfully blinded by the sun. anyways, 10/10 i think the fact that the side that faces the window is black helps with keeping the light out too! i was worried the beige color might mean it doesn’t block out sun well but no, it did, scarily so. ... show more

Good blackout curtains are actually hard to find for a decent price. I try to avoid items on Amazon that come from random sellers based out of China, but everyone knows that’s an unrealistic rule to stick to 100% on this site. After doing a few hours of research and not finding anything with a wide variety of lengths, colors, good reviews AND an attractive price point I bought these again (have bought them before) for my living room windows and am so pleased with them. They just work. They also don’t seem to attract lint or dust and stay remarkably clean, even though they’re white. I just love them. I bought these in the olive green to go across a large bay type set of windows to block out the glare on our television. They are 52"x84" and the opening I was covering was 102". I did not take into account the amount of width that would be lost due to the pleats naturally caused by the grommets so when pulled together there's still a little gap on the edges. But I can live with it because they don't make the color I wanted in a wider size. The quality of the material is really good and thick and the black backing really does block 100% of the light coming through the windows. However, there is no direct sunlight coming through those particular windows so I can't really speak to whether they will block 100% of direct sunlight. They were pretty wrinkled coming out of the package and the directions for ironing said low heat. Low heat would NOT remove the wrinkles and I was able to set the iron hotter without causing any damage. It just took a long time to remove them. The edges of the curtains flare out which does not give them anywhere near the finish of a custom set but then you get what you pay for. I gave a 5 star rating on "sheerness" just because they aren't sheer at all which is what I wanted and an overall 4 star because of the flaring of the edges. ... show more

I'm a complete novice when it comes to buying and installing curtains. Fortunately my daughter isn't. I thought I could order two panels that covered my large bedroom window, but that wouldn't have been possible. She told me to order four panels (two packages) instead, which worked. I also learned that it's best to have the curtain rod installed a few inches above the window for optimal light blocking. I ordered the slate blue curtains and a curve-around blackout rod (separate order). I'm very happy with them; they not only block out 99% of the light but also a considerable amount of noise. Our neighbor across the street was cutting up tree branches, and I was thrilled that the sound diminished when I closed the curtains. Yes, the curtains are a little wrinkled, but I don't particularly care. YMMV, of course. ... show more

These definitely block the light, my bedroom is completely dark even in the middle of the day with these curtains closed. I don’t really need the light blocking, but I did want thicker curtains to help insulate my windows against the cold winter weather and I do feel like they help. The color is a very bright white, just what I wanted. They do seem to be holding some winkles from where they were folded in the package, I haven’t tried washing them because some reviews said they lost there super bright white color but I plan on steaming them, I just haven’t gotten that far yet. ... show more

These do a really great job at keeping light out. If you want complete darkness you'll have to address any gaps formed by how you have them mounted, but I've combined them with another product and some cloth at the top to achieve that. These do the majority of the work and there isn't any light that goes through them. They look really good too, and the fabric is high quality. Perfect for privacy too. ... show more
