Awesome starter set for refining or repurposing gold that is made of quality materials. It is heavy and heavy duty, especially for at that price. It’s about an easy to use furnace as you can get that is well insulated and functions very well. Plus, considering the large size of crucible it will take, is a relatively small unit. It really dependents on how pure your gold is as to how long it will take to melt but it didn’t seem to take the small amount of 14k that we tested long at all. 1800W is some power and being electric means you don’t have to worry about buying propane or it running out. The set includes everything you need to melt several metals except for a mold (if you were making ingots or bars. But I assume most want to use it for casting smaller pieces in which case you’d be making your own mold to begin with. You get heavy gloves, the large crucible , tongs, the furnace and an insulated lid. I was thrilled when it arrived and can’t wait to gather up enough scrap to really melt a decent amount. With gold at an all time high, and your ability to acquire enough scrap, you can really make some good money here, especially if you refine. With a little chemistry knowledge purifying down to 24k is pretty easy. Just BE CAREFUL.

The media could not be loaded. I will update the stars if my replacement is better. The nob to open the lid melted, it's plastic. The welds on the hinge for the lid broke, both happened on first use. I will post a video.

This is the easiest little smelting furnace to operate. I already want to get a larger one! It advertises 1800w of heating, and I believe it. It heats up in about 34 minutes beyond the melting point of my aluminum (800*c). The cord doesn't get overly hot while in use. The graphite crucible will make your hands messy, so wear gloves when handling right out of the package. The crucible has a good spout and pours molten cast aluminum well. The gloves are adequate, but I prefer less bulky, better fitting tig welding gloves. Compared to other electric furnaces, this one has a heat shield/guard on the outside. It will still get insanely hot, but limits exposure to the direct furnace. The tongs hold into the crucible grooves well, letting me pour precisely into smaller green sand molds. This is too small to fit aluminum cans into, even squished. I prefer to strip old aluminum wiring, or cut cast aluminum into small chunks. It works well for it's designed capacity. But I'm already wanting a larger one. Convenient propane-free means to smelt brass/aluminum/silver/gold. I am not sure how close this could get to melting copper. With that said, propane furnaces I've looked at can start melting aluminum in around 5 minutes. If stored properly and handled correctly, this should last years. After use, I give mine a day to cool before boxing and storing in my air conditioned garage. Priced fairly compared to other online stores. I can't find this locally at any of my tool stores. Neat little furnace for smaller work and introduction to casting!

I’ve been using this furnace to melt down gold I’ve extracted from e-waste, and it’s been working great for small-batch refining. The 3KG graphite crucible has plenty of capacity for my purposes — more than enough to process refined scrap after chemical extraction. According to the specs and confirmed in use, it holds about 334 mL or roughly 11.3 fluid ounces of molten metal, which is more than enough for home-scale refining. The unit heats up fast and holds temperature consistently. I’ve had no issues getting it hot enough to pour clean, dense bars from my gold powder or sponge. Controls are simple and accurate, and the digital display gives a good read on real-time temps. The graphite crucible that comes with it is decent quality, and I recommend having extras on hand if you're using different metals. It’s compact, runs on 110V, and has been surprisingly efficient. The outer shell stays cool enough to work around, and the built-in lid hinge makes it easy to access without a lot of fumbling. I use proper PPE of course, but this setup makes the whole melting process feel pretty controlled and repeatable. If you're doing small-scale gold recovery and want to consolidate your material into clean pours, this is a solid piece of gear to have. Great for melting gold flake, sponge, or small nuggets you’ve refined chemically. Well worth the investment.
