I only gave it four stars because the controls are backwards. Push the IN button and it goes out. Press the OUT button and it pulls in. Other than that, it works great.

The winch works good, after I took it apart. It arrived with a broken limit switch. It fed cable out, But wouldn't bring it back in. I had to take it apart and disconnect the limit switch to be able to get it to work.

The media could not be loaded. We store lots of good stuff in our attic and use a pull-down attic stairs for access. It's difficult and dangerous to carry stuff up and down those very narrow tiny steep stairs. We tried a hunters hoist pulley system, but it was cumbersome and rickety, and eventually broke. So, we got this thing and it works wonderfully. To mount it, we cut two 2x6s to fit between the attic rafters, stacked them to make a 4x6 and secured the stack with lag screws. We then fastened the included mounting hook to the 4x6 with lag screws. Then we fastened this unit between the rafters with lag screws, strategically placed over the best spot in the stairwell opening. We hung the hoist and oiled the wire cable as directed with a WD oil gel. We use a CleverMade Collapsible Laundry Basket, Large, which is rated for 50 pounds, to contain stuff. The two remote controls make it so easy to use. We keep the wireless on the main floor and use the wired from the attic. This has been a great home improvement project which had added so much convenience and improved safety.

I have a car that has dedicated summer and winter wheel and tire sets. They are 18inch diameter very wide tires and are quite hefty. For years I had used a block and tackle (with no mechanical advantage) to pull them one at a time from the garage floor (with straps to attach the line) into my garage attic (16+ feet vertical). I finally decided to stop the madness and try a winch. This wasn't the cheapest but is extremely portable and has local, RF and wired control for up/down. It worked fine (although I am way below the rated max). My only complaint is that even at light/no loads it is very slow.

Haven't used the winch for intended use yet, but have 3 initial comments at this time: 1) Thought that the remote control was missing but seller told me to look in the foam packing (their response was very quick). Physically a very small remote control. DID NOT COME WITH BATTERY - BATTERY IS AN UNUSUAL SIZE AND NEED TO LOCATE WHERE TO PURCHASE - THE PRODUCT SHOULD COME WITH A BATTERY. 2) The unit's gears are extremely noisy. Makes me worry how long it will last before failure. Suggest that they lubricate the gears with a heavy grease to lower the friction noise. 3) As other have mentioned in their reviews, the cable takes about a second to stop after letting go of the Down or Up button, therefore you need to anticipate this and let go of the button in advance since the cable travels maybe 2 inches more before stopping. Hope to update review after using unit for some time.

using it as a utility elevator at my home and it is noisy but not as bad as i thought it would be. it came with enough cable and the battery was in the remote that others said was not included which worked fine . the cable is flexible and it handled the weight easily. TIME WILL TELL if it holds uo but seems to be a good product for the price

My previous review below. Revised my rating from 1 to 3, purely based on the excellent customer service I received. Seller was quick to respond to my complaint and offered an exchange. Unfortunately I had already purchased a different model. I am sure this problem was just a glitch as there are many satisfied customers who bought their model. The new model I bought has the exact same internals, just different packaging. Pity though is that it doesn't have the extras you get with NEWTRY's model like the remote, straps etc. EXCELLENT customer service though. Was excited to receive the product. Before use, I thought I'd test it. Fed about 6-8 inches of cable out with no load on the winch, pushed button to wind the cable back in and it worked for a second and I heard a poof noise as something blew on the inside. I could hear the relay working when the buttons are pushed but the device is as dead as a doornail. Returned and asked for refund. Will buy another product.
