This insert can represent either the insulin or green fluorescent protein (GFP) genes. In the process, they’ll learn about plasmid structure, use of vectors, marker genes, restriction enzymes recognition sites, sticky ends, multiple cloning site and promoters. Includes enough materials for an individual student to work alone or 2 students to work cooperatively to assemble a paper model. Also includes a comprehensive background information providing opportunities for students to Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend and Evaluate their understanding of the concept. Satisfies NGSS Standards which encourage students to develop & use models to represent structures, systems & processes. Perfect for use at home, in the classroom or lab.
