I love this ice chipper. I constantly buy bags of ice and then they freeze solid. I used to have to use a butter knife to try and break the ice up. But when I saw this I knew it was the solution to my problem. It is very durable. And it's very strong and has some weight to it but isn't overly bulky. We have a tabletop ice maker machine. When the cubes have sat in the ice bin for a while and not scooped out, they will stick together. We purchased this ice chipper to break the cubes apart and it works perfectly. Would highly recommend it because it is very sturdy and works great!!!

The good: It is the right size and dimensions as advertised. The wooden handle is sturdy and ergonomic. The Bad: The metal is cheap pot-metal that bent within the first use. Now I'm not using this ice chipper to build an igloo or fight snow monsters, rather I'm just using it to make hand crafted ice cubes for cocktails in my restaurant's bar program. As you can see by my pictures, the outside prongs have already bent and warped just for a few minutes of ice chipping. The chrome coating is peeling and flaking off, leaving shavings of metal mixed in with the ice cubes. Not good for a supposed "Food Service" product. Edit: less than a month of moderate use and prongs are already falling off. Save your money and invest into a better quality ice chipper. ... show more

Chipper works well, unfortunately nickel playing did not hold up and continues to leave little pieces of metal on ice. Perhaps stainless steel would be better.
