After reluctantly supporting my droopy bod during a cross-country move, my feet begged for good support and a cushioned insole. I did not want a sport shoe; however, I decided to give New Balance another chance…...after an extended suspension. I’m glad that I did. Pros: Comfortable more often than not….best if worn with socks Attractive & conservative coloration for a sports shoe Removable and supportive firm but cushioned insole Laces that stay tied all day Good arch support Well made Weight is good for standing or a walking day….not ultra light or heavy Toes have wiggle-room Low cut side so ankle and shoe do not collide Cons: The shoes run short. Order up ½ size, but consider a whole size up if planning to wear “thickish” socks Not overly comfortable if worn without socks. The seams are nicely finished, but are hard, and can cause pressure discomfort after extended wear The grooved soles love to pick up tiny rocks and debris ... show more

I bought these to replace my first pair which I wore most days for almost 2 years. Those have become my gardening shoes. These shoes are sturdy and comfortable. I walk and bike 6 or 7 days per week, so they have longevity. They were recommended to me by podiatrist and specialty shoe person after a nasty round of plantar fasciitis. They work well and no need for special inserts. Lots of room in the toe area which is nice. They do seem to run slightly small as I buy a women's 9 in this shoe. Love the brand, love the color -- but if it weren't for the color I wouldn't have bought these shoes! The down side: they're mesh, which doesn't last as long as the more expensive leather versions; they don't seem to come in a wide; they are dramatically mis-sized, I first tried a half-size larger, then a full-size larger, then one and a half-size larger ... and finally opted for the full size larger because the shoe was getting too long and not wider. The up side: it's New Balance, it's high arched, well-cushioned, well-made (I hope, TBD...) -- and did I mention the color?!? ... show more
