I've worn the past version (v10) of the 1080 for the past few years and loved them, but I wanted to try these out. I am very happy. They switched between the 10 and 11 to having that inner spandex strap over the top of the foot to not including that in the 11. At first, I did not like this because I felt like my support on uneven terrain was not as good. It is true that the shoe slides around a bit more without the elastic (I also have very narrow feet, so this is an issue for me with most shoes). However, they are very comfortable and still give that great heel support that I love from these shoes. They also are easier to break in and adjust to, since it used to take some time for the elastic ones to stretch out and fit your foot. Overall, I really like them and I'm not sure if I would buy the v 10 again over these. They're both wonderful, and if you need extra support in your feet these are a great option.

This is a very cushioned sneaker, has an amazingly wide toe box, and is great for walking and going on very SHORT runs. I’m currently training for a half marathon and was hoping to do a little more mileage in these, but since there is not much in terms of support, I can only run 2 miles in these at the most. Highly recommend for walking, but not so much for running or training.

Ordered these because it was the recommended style for a foot injury (rocker bottom with a plate). They’re pretty comfortable and design is as described. One warning, the inside of the toe area is rough! It’s not even a seam, which is an issue with some shoes, it’s actually the texture of the material, and it’s kind of like having a cheese grater rubbing on your toes if you don’t wear the right socks. I did not expect that issue (given the absence of seams there). I can’t believe nobody on the design team noticed this. Beware pinky and ring (5th and 4th) toe skin if it’s sensitive or prone to rubbing like mine.

Horrified about how I’ll be able to walk around this time next year now that this shep is done. The 1080v11 is the only shoe I can find that comes in extra wide and doesn’t have a “snug fit” that compresses the crap out of my feet. I have sciatic nerve compression and small fiber neuropathy, which hurt my feet. On top of that I have erythromelalgia, so compression also causes my feet to swell and literally burn up. The right shoe is the difference between being able to stay on my feet or not, and I don’t really know what I’ll do once the ones I have wear out. I will never be able to afford custom made shoes regularly- it’s cheaper to buy a mobility aid. And it’s ridiculous that it doesn’t have to be that way of New Balance would just remain inclusive. These wear out so fast and I’m praying they’ll release another version similar to this, or another brand will put out something similar. It sucks because New Balance has decided to stop making extended widths when they used to, excluding us from their target audience. I remember buying Womens 4E for 1080s a few years ago, but I guess they decided we’re not really worth it.
