  • Like basketball shoes on an ice rink
Size: 8 Color: Black/Black
These shoes fit well and are comfortable like the NB running shoes I have and like. The upper is a little tall, particularly if the knobs on the sides of your ankles are big and bulgey like mine, but you get used to that. These are supposed to be Slip resistant, but that’s a lie. When I work cold side, where the floor stays pretty dry, they are fine. In the dish pit and on the hot line, where the floor is often wet and/or greasy, I never feel secure. They’re a little better than they were when I got them six weeks ago, but I’m giving up on them. ... show more

  • Love the shoe but...
Size: 9 Color: Black/Black
I do wish that there was some type of way for air to circulate better...Only because the is first shoe to smell on me ever because of it not being breathable enough...Also I found it was a bit narrow even asking for wide shoes...in the front...I love everthing else about it...I wish there was a women's shoe as well for this kind but I will still buy this shoe...Also I had to put inserts in because it wasn't cushiony enough inside...I love the inserts from Walmart that I got...I have arthritis and Lupus and the inserts along with the shoe helped tremendously...I wish New Balance wouldn't go with memory foam...I believe that if they had inserts like Work Life Balance that I use...Their sneakers would be bought more...This insert has saved me like no other...I buy it in bulk for fear it won't be sold anymore one day...I love them...I put them in every shoe I get...I put them in my rubber boots, winter boots, and all my new balance sneakers... ... show more

  • Pros and Cons
Size: 16 Color: Black/Black
The things I like about this shoe was that it was slip resistant and the fresh foam was comfortable. The things I didn't like about this shoe was that it was a bit narrow depending on the thickness of the socks. There is not much arch support which I hate. I have plantar fasciitis and so I couldn't wear these shoes after a few months. I do about 20,000 steps a day and these shoes really make you feel it towards the end of the day. I usually wear 16 EE in asics so a 16 W would've been better. Never been a fan of new balance but asics stop making gt shoes/16EE/black shoes. Just went back to my old asics and spray painted them black. Pro: non slip, fresh foam very comfortable. Cons: no high arch support, a bit narrow at the toes. ... show more

  • I Purchased These Shoes For My Son.
Size: 8.5 Wide Color: Black/Black
The shoes arrived on time and were the same as shown in the picture. My son asked my if I could help him with shoes for his first job, which was at a local grocery store. I spent a week researching the top rated shoes and these were tied with the Nike Teagans, but the New Balance had slip resistant soles. He is currently as a stocker, bagger, and cart retreiver. He works several days a week and on a few days he finds himself standing six (6) hours somedays. I gave him a few weeks to actual try these shoes and he confesses he is quite happy with these. He discribed them as very comfortable, flexiable, with well gripping soles (when getting under and pushing long lines of carts). Because he is happy, safe, and pain free, I would buy these again if he needed another pair, but these are holding up really well so far so I think it may be a while! ... show more

  • Stinky Feet
Size: 12 X-Wide Color: Black/Black
These work fine. Non-Slip shoes are always a lot harder on my feet than other shoes. The soles are just HARD, but the New Balance non-slips I've had over the years have been a little better than most. These do fit a little more narrow than the other New Balance;s I've had, and I even picked up the X-tra Wide option. Still, it works fine for kitchen work (except my kitchen has really bad floors and the non-slip doesn't work very well in our kitchen.) But man oh man. These are air-tight shoes and while they are not 100% waterproof, they are water proof-ish and because they are so snug and I'm working in a fast paced kitchen.... The moisture stays inside the shoes and WOW. They smell BAD. My feet smell BAD when I wear these. So beware. Stock up on odor eaters if you plan on choosing these. ... show more

  • Good fit, Not non-slip
Size: 12.5 X-Wide Color: Black/Black
I don't know why it's so hard to find quality, non-slip shoes for my restaurant job. Touted as slip-resistant, I found these very lacking while bartending on wet floors and walking in the kitchen/dish. Having been a longtime customer of New Balance, when I spotted these, I assumed they would be great. NB makes one of the few shoe sizes I can wear (13 3E). These are more narrow at the toe than other NB sneakers; however, the material is flexible enough that they don't make my toes terribly uncomfortable. However, that same material traps heat like a plastic bag. Yes, this shoe is meant to repel liquids, but, man, do my feet get so hot in these. The insole was a joke (as are they for most shoes). When I added Dr. Scholl's, it was too cramped. Although these weren't the best, there are worse restaurant shoes you could buy. ... show more
