  • I’ve Been Wearing the 877 For Eight Years
Size: 8 Color: Grey
I’ve worn the 877 for 8 years. Each year I buy another pair and rotate them on a weekly basis. I still have and wear my original pair. As other reviewers have mentioned, these shoes are now being made in Vietnam. In my photo, the shoe label on the left is a three year old shoe and it was “assembled in the US.” The shoe on the right is one I got this week. It says “made in Vietnam.” I wish they were still made here but the Vietnam made shoes are still true to size. They always fit properly and the pair I just got seems to have more support in the heel. I need that because I am susceptible to gout and need a soft shoe that provides good support. I haven’t had a gout attack since I started wearing the 877. Other reviewers have said they look like old man shoes. I think they look OK. The gray color goes with any clothes and they can be worn with any outfit. They are very comfortable to walk in and I walk 3 miles a day. The 877 holds up quite well. They are not waterproof so be careful to avoid puddles. I have had a couple of pairs come with laces that were way too long. I try to work around this by making an extra large loop when I tie them. The last two pairs that I ordered, the made in Vietnam ones, have laces that are the right length. Other reviewers have mentioned that the toe box is too narrow. I haven’t encountered this problem. I wear size 8D, which is smaller than the size worn by most of the reviewers who complain about a narrow toe box. There hasn’t been any drop off in quality since I first started wearing the 877 eight years ago. The newer ones seem to made a little differently, but I haven’t had any problems with mine. I highly recommend that 877 for anyone who needs a good walking shoe that can be worn all day long and which can hold up to long walks. ... show more

  • Very comfortable with clean look, no tread wrap around
Size: 11 Color: Grey
I like New Balance shoes. I learned many shoes ago that NB runs about 1/2 size smaller than many other shoes. So if you normally wear 10 1/2, try the NB 11 for a perfect fit. That is my experience. I have some foot problems and in general NB has very cushioned and comfortable foot beds. The uppers wear well too. Some are better than others. This MW877 has the best feel out of the box and I've worn them several weeks now, every other day, all day, without discomfort. That is unusual for me and is why I am writing this. NB has many styles. I have many of their walking shoes, the MW series, and will share what I've found. I have the MW977 boots, and MW780, MW950, MW759, MW3000, and now the MW877 shoes. While all these are the MW series walkers, tread and comfort vary. The boots have deep tread and have a stiff but very comfortable foot bed. I've had them for years and the stiff foot bed has not deteriorated. Great for walking a dog along a creek or a longer trail hike, but not for gardening because deep tread allows lots of dirt to pack into the bottom. The 780 and the 950 look similar. The 780 has almost as much tread as the boots and a mesh top. The 950 has an all leather top and very light tread. Former good for light hiking, latter for gardening. All three mentioned are older and may not be available now. I mention them so that if you have them, it may help you with my comparisons. Also the last two have had their foot beds deteriorate over the years. They are fine for a few hours, but then my feet start to complain. I've tried the replacement soles and they just haven't worked for me. I have foot problems, they may be just fine for you. But grasp that all these NB shoes have uppers that wear well enough to consider putting replacement soles into after several years. These last three shoes are newer, within the last two years. The 759 has been my "go to" shoes for everyday with jeans. Very comfortable foot bed with mesh upper and medium tread. They look similar to cross trainers with the medium tread. The 3000 I got earlier this year. They are all leather uppers and have light tread, There is some similarity to the 950 mentioned earlier, but the 3000 look much nicer and they are very comfortable for all day. They look nice enough to wear with casual dress slacks... my opinion. The new 877 are kind of a cross between the 3000 and the 950. They have the mesh upper, so they look a little like cross trainers, but the tread on the bottom is so light, it reminds me of a boat shoe. It's not what I expected - different look. Not that they don't look good. They have a very clean look, no tread wrap around. Putting them on changed my mind. They are the most comfortable NB shoes I've had and they look pretty good too. So I hope this comparison helps. Just to prove my opening sentence, I also have a pair each of the NB cross trainers and runners. I do like New Balance. ... show more

  • Overall good product but...
Size: 9.5 X-Wide Color: Grey
I purchased these shoes as a replacement for my New Balance 840s that I wore out. My 840s fit a bit narrow so ordered x wide and am glad I did. They are not too wide and are comfortable. As mentioned in another review, the support inserts were not very good so I actually reused my 840s. And that's too bad. Also as I read in other reviews the tongue is too short and the laces are way too long. So if I didn't replace the laces I would have to have double laced (see pic). Last issue is that the soles don't have the same traction as my 840s which required me to add no slip pads to my hard-plastic foot pedals on the elipical. Decent price and overall good purchase. ... show more

  • Once broken in, the most comfortable walking shoe
Size: 15 Wide Color: Grey/Grey
I have metatarsalgia. I have tried every Skechers walking shoe, including every Max Cushion. The problem with Max Cushion shoes is that the cushioning deforms fast and does not stabilize the foot. These shoes are surprisingly cushioned and comfortable. And they keep my foot from eventually leaning when using an arch support. Yes, I can actually walk off pavement with these. I discovered they just needed a short break in. The weight and structure is a plus not a minus. And the width for my 15W feet is excellent. They aren't pretty, but they aren't ugly either. But why the tongue is relatively short (but adequate) and the laces so long is a mystery. Also note the reasonable price versus their more astronomical walking models. ... show more

  • Incredible Shoe --with orthotics
Size: 11 Color: Grey
My running days are probably over. I purchased this as my first walking shoe, slid in my orthotics and off I went. These might be the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I ordered a second pair already. I average 20k+ steps a day, have put over 100 miles on them already, and I've had no issues. I hope they last a long time. My only gripe is that the standard liner is very thin and flimsy. ... show more

  • Fits very wide feet
Size: 12 X-Wide Color: Grey/Grey
I have very wide feet with high arches. Usually order wide shoes several sizes larger than necessary to avoid toe crunch. These shoes are wide throughout the total length, especially the toes. Very happy with them. Will probably buy a second pair just to insure I have a pair ready for a long time.
