I needed to replace the Emerson motor on my 3hp Ingersoll compressor. This motor is rated at 3.7 hp vs the 3 I needed. As other reviews, stated, it is very quiet, much more so than the Emerson ever was. When I first fired it up, I had to check to see if it was even running. It does get noisier at full load but not like the old Emerson. Plus, the quality and workmanship look a lot better. For example, the capacitor cans have 4 screws instead of two each, and are sealed with a gasket. The packaging was phenomenal, a box within a box, and surrounded by expanded foam.
