Although I'm an accomplished musician, I haven't played flute since grade school (it was my first instrument), and I've always wanted to get back to it. At a price of just $55 USD I couldn't pass this up and decided to give it a try. It's a surprisingly solid and well-made flute for the price, and it also comes with a cleaning rod, clothes, and gloves (certainly more than my student flute back in the day did!) There was one keyspring out-of-place on the end piece, which could've happened during shipping, it was an easy fix with a careful use of tweezers; after that all the keys work easily and as they should. I also noticed that the machining is VERY close on the joints between pieces of the flute - you'll want to be careful when assembling/disassembling to avoid damaging those edges or potentially roughing up the finish. Muscle memory took a while to kick in, but once I got my positioning right the tone was pretty good for such an inexpensive instrument. For a beginner just starting out or wanting to try the flute before committing to a more expensive purchase, I think this is would be quite adequate. ... show more
