The tongs seem pretty nice. There's very little flex in them and they grip the included crucibles very securely. Highly recommend these (or something like them) if you're using tongs that grip around the lip of a crucible on only one side. The furnace I bought came with tongs intended to be used like that and they bent after one use. Pretty dangerous to use something like that, and your life is worth the money that these nicer tongs cost. Just make sure to follow the instructions for how to use them, specifically the parts about the notches in the lifting tongs being flush with the top of the crucible, and the 90 degree tab on the pouring tongs also being flush with the top of the crucible. Don't light yourself on fire. I haven't used the crucibles yet.

My plans to build a furnace are on hold, so I have not fully put this through its paces. With that out of the way, the tongs are light, comfortable to hold, and feel solid once assembled. The crucibles are smooth, and well packaged. It is my understanding that once at the target range of temperatures, the crucible can be a bit fragile. Perhaps I'm mistaken on that, but the addition of a set stop built into the handles so that they will only close so far, thereby eliminating the possibility of crushing a glowing crucible and spilling molten metal everywhere seems like it ought to be a feature. I will be adding this feature to these before I do any pouring regardless.
