I bought the 12kg version thinking it would work with a 12kg crucible. It doesn't. The description clearly states that you will receive a 9kg crucible with the unit. Alas, I missed that part. I still give it 5 stars because of the quality of the unit and the quality of the included crucible.

Like the design but crucible is a little snug. Use to hold crucible of molten aluminum or copper to pour anthills.

I bought the "12kg" model and it is too small for my 10kg crucible. Do not buy. Sizes are incorrect. Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to do a melt until after the return window closed. So I'm just out $80 and have two worthless pieces of equipment taking up space. DO NOT BUY!!!

First, let me say the the build quality is very good, and I don't have a problem with that. The problem is that the crucible capacity is much less than advertised. If you fill the crucible to the brim with water, it holds 971 grams. That is equivalent to 971 milliliters. The standard for gauging crucible capacity seems to be the amount of copper they can hold. Copper is the heaviest of the common metals that folks would melt in this type of furnace. Aluminum, brass, bronze, and zinc are all lighter. Based on the density of copper (8.93 grams per ml), the crucible only holds 8.6kg, NOT 10kg. I suppose for some it doesn't matter that much, but if you pay for a 10kg set, you should get a 10kg set. So, I returned it and will order the 12kg set, which will probably hold 10kg.
