I tend to look at a lens filter as an inexpensive protection for the front element of a lens. At the same time I don’t want it to creat any distortion. This lens filter does its job well.

So yep you can know the non stick works first time you clean it. I do not think this filter impacts image quality in a negative manner. It in fact seemed to be helpful on a sunny day by improving contrast. I did a rude test of all my UV filters and this one is good but not best. My test was using 2 different UV flashlights and shining them through the front of the filter. Some filters reflected more light than others and some passed more light through the filter. I tested B&W, Sirui, Manfrotto, Marumi, and Nikon L37 plus a Neewer MRC UV pro. They all limit the UV flashlight light from passing through. What was striking to me was that the Neewer MRC UV Pro stopped the most pass through and reflected a lot more of the UV light from 2 different flashlights. It is listed as a cut filter and it seems to be that. It cost $10 dollars more that the Neewer Nano HD MC UV filter. So for my use which was stopping blue haze at high elevation the Neewer MRV UV Pro might be the best choice that being said the Nano HD UV offers the non stick and other benefits for less money. I would spend the extra dough for the cut filter. From my test the second best was an old Nikon L37 which blocked the flashlight UV better than all but the Neewer UV MRC Pro. Overall Neewer seems to offer a quality product. Notable is the Pro filter spec states its transmission rate while the sister filter does not. ... show more

I keep UV or clear filters on all my lenses to protect them and have done so for 40+ years. I like to use really high quality filters and those can be a bit pricey so this inexpensive filter intrigued me. It has 24 layers of multi-coating and the water repellent, scratch resistant nano coating. Those are features usually only found on the more expensive filters. The filter has a quality feel and finish and comes in a protective case. They even throw in a cleaning cloth! I tested the filter to see if it would increase lens flare by photographing into direct sunlight. It showed a very similar lens flare to shooting without a filter. UV filter is supposed to block ultraviolet. This does not, tested with "ALONEFIRE SV62 Mini 3W UV Flashlight 365nm". So, this is just a protective glass filter. This is important if you intend to remove bluish haze with it. It will not work. In spite of all this I'll keep them as I'm using them mainly to protect more much expensive optics. ... show more

There are many articles on the internet proclaiming the need for a UV filter and other articles stating it degrades your photos. While I'm sure cheapie plastic filters will work against the optics in a good camera lens, I cannot tell any significant difference when using a better filter, and I think the Neewer Nano series are good filters. The filter fits my lenses well, with threading working smoothly when attaching or removing it. I have never been a pixel peeper, but to my eye, there is no degradation in the sharpness of my photos when I use the filter. I have seen no reflections with the filter attached. So to me, there's no downside to using the UV filter. The upside is sooner or later, I'm going to drop my camera or bash the lens against something: if a UV filter can maybe keep my lens glass from getting scratched, it's well worth it to protect a lens costing hundreds of dollars more than the filter. Better safe than sorry; using this filter to me is a no-brainer. I am happy with this purchase. ... show more
