When I first tried on this shirt it was very big, a typical XL. I'm a 38 waist, 44 chest. I wanted it for a PJ top. My wife said it looked like a tent (Ie, it was very comfortable). I told her it would shrink a little, an boy was I wrong -- IT SHRINK A LOT! After the first wash it shrunk significantly. I'd say it was like a L at that point. It fit me fine. This was pretty much what I expected. After the next couple of washes, however, it has shrunk down to an M. It's now too small for me. This is insanely poor quality for a shirt his expensive. Unfortunately, after the first wash, I bought four more of these things! None of them are wearable any longer. They ride up about 2 inches above my wrist (they used to be down over my hands. Honestly, I really don't know where the extra fabric went - it's like some really annoying magic trick. Shrunk drastically after washing. I have purchased Nautica sleep shirts in the past, but of a blend of cotton and other materia and they are perfect after washing. All cotton should be purchased in extra large. I guess I am stuck for the price but no more Nautica in the future
