Appears to be good quality shorts as described. Unfortunately, I read the other reviews and so sized up for my size 8 daughter to size 10. The size 10 was really baggy and went to mid knee cap instead of above the knee. Not the look she wanted. She was hoping for slim fit Bermuda shorts. I think these may be true to size. Daughter (for reference) is an average height slim 9 year old who normally wears a size 8. We may return for a smaller size and I will update this review. My 9 year old is thin - 11th percentile for her age on BMI. The waist and seat area of these are plenty roomy - almost loose - but the thigh area is tapered and grows quite snug. She has to use her hands to pull the leg of the shorts down when she stands up because it is so tight fitting. But only the lower portion of the shorts leg is cut this narrow. Only the thinnest 10% if the population can wear these without getting blousy in the hip area. ... show more
