  • They’re comfortable

  • Fine for a recreational skater (like me).
Color: Aurora Blue Size: Men's 8 / Women's 7 (Shoe Size)
These are inexpensive skates that seem fine for a recreational skater like me. They are pretty comfortable and don't have the painful feel of a metal bar pressing up into the bottom of my feet like the skates they are replacing. They are pretty rigid and kind of difficult to cinch up the laces, but with some effort, they do tighten up pretty well. They don't lace that high and it was difficult to get to the point that I felt that my ankles were fairly secure, but I did get there. The come with the bottom four laces already threaded, sort of backwards -- inserted from the outside. I laced up the rest the way I lace shoes, with the laces inserted into the holes from the inside, and I could not tighten them to any significant degree, so I tried relacing they way they were started, from the outside in (see pic), and I had an easier time getting them tightened. Still, not that easy. If you have one of those lacing tools that I used to use when I was a kid you'll probably have an easier time. The blades feel sharp -- as sharp as the blades on my prior pair felt when freshly sharpened, and they claim that the stainless steel is harder than carbon steel, so hopefully they will stay sharp. Our lake is just freezing up now so I haven't had a chance to try them on ice yet, but I did stand in them for about 20 minutes and they were comfortable. The padding, etc. is comfortable. They have a spongy, thin insole that sits in a more rigid kind of 'cup' insole and they included a slightly smaller plastic cup insole you can use if the skates feel a little bit big -- they call it a 'half size' insert. In may case, I got size 8, which is what I am, and it seemed true to size. My toes don't touch the front but there is just a little room ahead of them, so pretty much right on. I have to get an 8 1/2 in some footwear so was a little nervous about buying an 8, but these don't come in half sizes (but do have the half size cup as noted) and I would definitely be swimming in a 9. So, overall, these are fine for a recreational skater like me. I don't know if they would be suitable for a more aggressive skater -- not saying they wouldn't be, just saying I don't know. I'll leave it to other reviewers to comment on that. ... show more

  • Comfortable, Supportive Skates with Solid Performance for the Price
Color: Voltic Blaze Red Size: Men's 11 / Women's 10 (Shoe Size)
These Nattork ice hockey skates offer a good balance of comfort, support, and durability, especially for recreational and developing players. The stainless steel blades hold an edge well and provide reliable grip on the ice without needing constant sharpening. Ankle support feels secure, helping with stability during turns and stops. The lightweight construction makes skating feel quicker and less fatiguing, while the Coolmax lining does a nice job managing moisture and keeping feet comfortable during longer sessions. Overall, these skates are a strong value option for men, women, and youth looking for dependable performance without stepping into high-end pricing. ... show more

  • Solid ice skates - similar quality to rental skates
Color: Aurora Blue Size: Men's 11 / Women's 10 (Shoe Size)
I'm not a super experienced ice skater, but go enough to make getting my own pair worthwhile. Out of the box they seemed kinda hard and rigid - more plastic on the outside than I have seen from rental skates. But I took them for a test drive yesterday and they are pretty good. Comfortable, comparable to rental skates, and they come with multiple insoles to find the one that works best for you. Speaking to a more experienced skater at the rink yesterday, it seems they should get sharpened right away and it's important to get the laces as tight as possible. ... show more

  • Decent Beginner Skates but Not Great for Long-Term or Advanced Use
Color: Aurora Blue Size: Men's 12 / Women's 11 (Shoe Size)
I grew up playing hockey and have been skating on and off my whole life, and I’m a pretty advanced skater. With that background, I’d put these skates firmly in the beginner or recreational category. They’re fine for someone who is just learning, or for a casual skater who goes out once or twice a season, but they aren’t built for heavy or frequent use. The quality is average for budget skates, though the price is a bit high for what you get. The plastic feels somewhat flimsy, and while the stainless steel blades have some sharpness and decent grip, they don’t feel like they would hold up well to long sessions or weekly skating. Expect to sharpen them more often than you would with mid-level skates. Comfort is also pretty average. Short sessions are fine, but you’ll definitely notice the difference compared to higher tier skates. The insoles, in particular, are absolute junk. They offer almost no cushion or support, and I would strongly recommend swapping them out for better insoles. This is actually common with any kind of skate, ski boot, or running shoe, but replacing the insoles here makes an especially big difference. Upgrading them will give you more comfort, better support, and help prevent foot soreness or injury in the long term. Sizing here is also important to get right. Ice skates always run large, and most people need to size down at least one or even two sizes from their street shoe. I sized down one and these are still too big. I should have gone down two. So if you are between sizes, definitely err on the smaller side. Overall, these work fine for beginners or very occasional skating, but if you skate regularly, you’ll get much better durability, comfort, and performance by investing a little more. ... show more

  • Great value
Color: Aurora Blue Size: Men's 9 / Women's 8 (Shoe Size)
These Nattork skates are a solid value — the stainless steel blades glide smoothly, and the adjustable boot means they’ll fit for a while. The fleece lining keeps your feet warm, and the triple-lock system feels secure. That said, the ankle support is good but not super stiff, so I wouldn’t take them for very aggressive hockey. Also, I ended up having to sharpen the blades before my first use. For the price, though, they’re a great pick for recreational skating or as a first “real pair” of skates. ... show more
