  • Perfect after years of DJing with crates of vinyl
Size: Audio 6
after years of lugging around crates and crates of music to gigs, i finally decided to go the digital route in dj gigs. the obvious options were Serato and Traktor. now i'm the type of person that goes for the underdog. in this case traktor. Serato this and serato that is pretty much all i hear from all my dj buds, but none of them have mentioned, let alone comment on the effectiveness of Traktor! for the price and reviews that i have seen/read, i ended up with Traktor and i am glad that i did! the response is awesome! analysing my tracks on the fly is awesome! even gives me the BPM! I have seen many a DJs use Serato and from what i have seen, Traktor has pretty much the same features (short cuts/hot keys) as serato. if you were to look at all the different videos and read all the different reviews about serato and traktor, you will find that they are both the same in one aspect or another. the only real difference is how much you (the consumer) is willing to spend. for $299 from amazon for the A6 or $499 for the SL2/3 model...i'll pick the A6. and i'm glad i did! product comes with sound card, pair of time coded cds, pair of time coded vinyl (MK2), serial for hardware and software, RCA cables (2 pair), power cable, and hot key map sheet. ... show more

  • Get serato
Size: Audio 6
I bought this product after reading a lot of review about how great the product is and all the things you can do with it. I have use serato for years with out a single problem. I bought traktor and wow it was a train wreck. First you have to set everything up by going through all of the settings and changing each one for the type of mixer and if you are using cdj’s or turn tables. Then you have to get your music all into the program and that need to analyze other wise it will slow everything down. I use technic 1200 mk2 turntables and have never once had a problem with them. I tried to use and set up traktor for 4 day at about 3 to 4 hours a day. I tried all of the trouble shooting things that they have I contacted them and they said try to uninstall and reinstall the software. I did that 3 or 4 times. I changed the wires on my turntables and they work great when I had serato hooked up then I tried traktor again and it said I had a ground problem. So I went through all of that trouble shooting and still nothing. I couldn’t even get it to calibrate at all it just had a ground symbol. If I was any one looking into this product and you don’t want to watch hours of videos on how to set it up and trying all the trouble shooting and having a headache for days and wanting to smash this product into a million pieces look into serato. This was the biggest mistake I have made since I have started djing 20 years ago. So if you are smart stay away from buying this product and look into serato or any other product I am sure that you will be much happier. ... show more

  • Rock solid.
Size: Audio 6
This has been a go-to for audio interfacing my turntables to my laptop, as well as providing convenient ins and outs for my laptop when working on music at home. It's proven itself in several gigs, providing excellent audio output and reliability. Compared to the issues I experienced with my previous Connectiv inteface, this is worlds apart in terms of quality, build construction, and durability. ... show more

  • Amazing sound card, but has a delicate USB port
Size: Audio 6
This sound card rules, and works great with Traktor Scratch Pro 2, which is what I use it for. Rather than touting all the things I love about it, let me just mention what I don't like: The only bad thing I have to say about this product is that the USB port on the unit is weak and delicate. It broke on a used one that I purchased (not the one I bought new later). I can't rule out previous abuse, but it worked great for over year and showed no signs of damage or malfunction. Then all of a sudden, one day I went to pull out the cable from the unit and the cable completely ripped out the USB housing. Totally destroyed the USB port, rendering the item useless for DJing, which is what i need it for. I have since bought a replacement USB 2.0 port that I am going to solder in, I hope it works. I have since thrown away the cable that did the damage, even though I doubt the cable was broken or damaged. My only advice is to be very careful when plugging in and unplugged a USB cable to this device. Don't wiggle it. Go straight in and out. I have heard of this happening to someone else too. Just be careful. I wish NI made a stronger USB housing for this product. ... show more

  • Great, once I got it working.
Size: Audio 6
It took a while to get running on my PC. I hooked it all up and installed the software and downloaded all the patches and stuff and it still wouldn't recognize the interface. I read how Windows 8.1with USB 3.0 needed a patch. You would think that would have been part of the updates pulled down by scratch at installation but apparently not. After 30 minutes of searching NI's forums and downloads and every other nook on their website I found the patch randomly in a strange place (They have a lot of dead or outdated links on their site). I wasn't even sure if it was what I needed but I tried with my fingers crossed and it worked. Oh, and even with vinyl control, set your mixer inputs to line. That isn't very clear in the instructions either. Anyhow, it runs like a champ on my Corei5 with 8 gigs of RAM, even with lots of other apps open. Latency is low and it's very responsive using two Akai Pro LPD8s as controllers for loops, cues and effects. Worth every penny. ... show more
