This is perfect as a personal item. I used it on Delta and Alaska airlines with no problem. It felt well under the seat in front of me. It is pretty weak and doesn't have anything in the bottom to make it firm. It isn't rigid, so make sure not to overpack it. It would be best for light items like snacks or maybe a pair of shoes or a sweater. I wouldn't recommend putting anything really heavy in it as the straps don't seem to be the strongest. Overall, I was satisfied with it. If you are planning on traveling with heavy items or lots of bulky items, you may want to look for something else. I put my medications, toiletries, a rain jacket, snacks, my phone and accessories, and some trinkets in this bag and it worked just fine.
