  • Great product
A little louder than I thought it would be but not terrible . Picks up the dust wonderfully

  • Short Cord, Noisy Fan, But Collects The Dust
I ordered this for at home use. While it does significantly reduce dust as expected, use is complicated by the super short power cord (it's only about 3ft). I suppose in a salon setting this would not be an issue. The unit is also quite noisy at the highest fan setting. I do appreciate that you can adjust the fan speed to exactly what you need as it is controlled by a stepless turn knob. Having a USB outlet right on the unit is also a neat feature if you have an efile that plugs in to USB. This is not my favorite dust collector that I have tried, but it does the job. ... show more

  • More of a fan than a vent
This nail dust collector is attractive and arrives in a giftable box. When you turn this dust collector on it initially sounds loud, but when you turn on your nail drill or callus remove the sound is drowned out. I placed this nail dust collector on the floor right under my feet as I used my electric callus remover for my feet and especially my heels. On the floor next to this nail dust collector happened to be my black and white senior Shitsu doggie. As I used my callus remover with this dust collector on and running, dust was literally raining down from my dry and cracked heels. However, I noticed that the dust was landing on my doggie's black fur. As I watched the dust fall and blow over to my doggie it was clear as day that this dust collector did more blowing dust/air than sucking dust in. I hoped to have a tool that sucks in the dust to reduce dust from flying around, this product did not do that as well as I wanted it to. ... show more

  • Great safety tool for preventing dust inhalation
Nail grinding is dusty work and that dust really, really isn't good for your lungs (same goes for all body-part-dust, actually; scrimshaw and bone carving, antler carving, parchment sanding and ivory all carry the same warning). I've been using a Dremel type nail grinder for myself and my dog for almost a year now, because it's way less stressful for the dog and does a better job anyway than traditional clippers. But it does, quite literally, convert the nails into dust and that dust floats about in a cloud while I'm working. I KNOW it's dangerous to breathe that dust in, but honestly, I'm too lazy to put on a mask to keep it out of my lungs. So I've just been dealing with it, since I didn't know there was a solution. But then I saw this dust filter vacuum! Yay! It's basically like the sawdust vacuums on table saws and routers, just a fan that creates suction to draft the air from your tool into a collector where a filter can screen out the mess. The first thing to say about this dust collector is that it's plenty big enough for any nail trimming and it's flat enough that I can actually hold my dog's paws over it for grinding his nails, too. I saw that some other reviews whined about it not being big enough for sanding your whole foot... But, that's not what it was designed for. It's designed to collect all the air around one fingernail at a time! So if you use it for the intended purpose, it is plenty big. It's also low and flat so it's stable, on table or floor, which I value for the dog's sake as much as my own. The legs are just tall enough to let air flow out the bottom of this filter. They have a wood grain look that I like better than the rest of the piece (the aesthetics of the mid-twentieth century never appealed to me) and they feel nice and stable. The filter discs on top are easy to swap out for cleaning or replacing them, and the grid that secures them in place has tabs to lock it in position or release it so you can lift them out. The fan is controlled by a knob that changes the speed, but honestly, I can't see why you'd run this lower than top speed. It doesn't change the volume of noise that much (and yes, a suction-producing fan is always noisy) so it's better to run it full speed and get the most filtration possible. No overheating problems. You can watch the drifting nail dust get sucked in to the filter; it definitely works. Even with the extra clean sheets (which make grinding something messy like acrylic nail polish easier, because you can just fold up the sheet afterward and throw it away without worrying that the acrylic will clog the filter), there's plenty of suction, as long as you do the nail grinding close to the surface of the filter like the instructions show. Maybe my favorite design feature of all is that the filter comes with a USB power outlet for plugging in your nail grinding tool! Mine is corded and has to be plugged in, so that's a really nice feature. Very thoughtful design. Overall, so thankful for this filter! Saving my lungs and making cleanup easy, all in one! ... show more

  • OK for hands but not great for feet
The unit is big enough for hands but a little too small for foot. I need this for my feet as I like to sand the callus off my feet. With hand, I don't see a lot of benefits. Does it work? It does. It has a moderate vacuum that sucks things down. But the surface is a bit too small for my feet. (I wear size 9 men's shoes so not a huge feet either). If you want this for your hand, this is fine. But for foot, you want something bigger. Since it does what it claims to, I am giving it 4 stars. I wish it was maybe couple of inches bigger in diameter. ... show more

  • Powerful nail dust collector
This nail dust collector is a great size for hand use, but it seems small for feet, so keep that in mind if you're looking for something for both. What really sets it apart is the ability to plug your nail drill directly into the dust collector. I'm not sure if this is a feature on all dust collectors. This eliminates the need for extra cords and cables, which is great when it comes to keeping your work space organized and cluttered - free. The suction power is solid, and it doesn't excellent job of catching dust and debris while you work, making clean-up much easier. The design is sleek and doesn't take up much space, which is a plus for anyone with limited counter space. It's super convenient and effective tool for keeping your nail station clean and efficient. ... show more

  • Seems cheep.
I wouldn't call this a professional dust collector. Yes it does work as expected. But the plastic is very thin. The plastic "grate" on the top of the filter is very very think and flimsy. The knob on mine was tilted when I got it. I was able to level it out but I don't think it should be that way. I've had another dust collector and it was very well made and quite possibly professional grade. This is not. But for the price it is good for home use if you take great care of it. ... show more
