Update: bought in 2017, reviewed in 2018, and now updating mid 2025-- these are still holding up in the manner I bought them for, as dinner napkins. I also grab one for quick kitchen clean up. Used, washed and dried hundreds of times over the past 8 years. NO HOLES. ------------------------------------------------------------------- The blue shop rags I am reviewing I happen to use primarily as napkins. I don't need nor care for anything fancy. I actually despise linen napkins as they are not at all absorbent. On top of that, I have had some that just stain up immediately, so they look like junk anyway that I spent too much money on. These are cheap, and do what I need. Wipe my face and hands! These aren't for company. I am not stuffing them in napkin holders. I didn't need anything huge. I am just wiping my face and hands. Yet I don't want to keep on using up paper napkins or paper towels. Not interested in basic body wash cloths either. I wanted something that stands out from all the other materials coming out of the washer and dryer. Sometimes I use these to wipe up the counter real quick if I hadn't really used these during dinner (--- on the couch! see, nothing fancy here!). So yeh, I basically keep a pile of them folded up in a small box kept on top of my fridge. I grab one as I need it. One star off for the insane amount of washing I had to do to them before the ink bled out enough for them to be safe with other materials in the wash. I wouldn't even use them in or on my truck as they bled with any fluid on them from the get go. They go from a really cool vibrant blue to eventually a worn out, washed out denim blue. At that point it seemed they were done bleeding out color. Significant shape and size loss- but I don't hold it against them, they are after all cotton shop rags. But the description says they are 14"x14" to start with expected minimal shrinkage. I would say they reduce to maybe 10x10, super thin, with curling. Large enough to wipe my face, not so much to wipe down my truck. Alas, they really are working out well for my primary use as napkins. I like the size (even with shrinkage), would have been cool if they kept their color, but really I don't care. I am just glad they are absorbent and have enough texture to engage in some light scrubbing action as needed.

Used these to clean my bathroom after washing them once or twice in hot water. I sprayed cleaner on the rag and it bled pink all over the various surfaces. I washed the red rags all together and the laundry load after turned slightly pink so it bled and left dye in the washing machine :( If a rag ends up in the wash with a regular load, expect the laundry to come out super pink. I hate these so much.

1st use when I wet it and wipe down things lent and orange dye from the cloth came off on fabric. After I washed it the dye came out even more but overall I got it for my dogs so it works.

For years I could get the red shop towels at my local Big Box but no more and the towels at my local parts store was hit or miss and expensive. Finding the perfect shop towel is hard online as you can't look and feel it so I decided to take a chance on these and i'm happy! I use red shop towels exclusively for working with motor oil! I don't use red towels in the house and being I used then from changing oil to checking motor oil levels I make zero attempt to wash and reuse as I like to toss them once dirty with oil. That said, I prefer a red towel that is this perfect size for oil changes and somewhat thin as thick towel simply does not work for what I use red shop towels for. I also buy white cotton terry towels for car washing, cleanup etc and I also buy in bulk microfiber towels for waxing and ceramic car coatings but when changing or checking oil I reach for my red shop towel... My suggestion is make sure you purchase the right tool ( towel ) for the job, as example I would not buy red shop towels to clean a kitchen! I prefer what I consider this thickness in a red towel perfect, some may find it thin but for oil work, this is exactly what I wanted. I buy RED shop towels so I know this is only for OIL and so I don't get a dirty oil towel mixed with my other car towels that I do take inside, wash and re-use. Lately the store purchased red towels I have been buying now have so much lint I can't use them to even check oil without leaving red lint on the dipstick. Yes I see some lint on these but does not look excessive but comes with instructions suggesting washing before use will remove any lint . I may or may not try washing before as I never thought of that ? I like these towels, IS PEFECT for my exact needs and requirements. I will buy again!
