The tool itself is tough but not tough enough to be shipped. The tool arrived missing the opening spring and the top of the plyers looked like it was drug behind the UPS truck that brought it. The teeth that pull the canvas made it intact so I will not return it but this product should be shipped in a outer box or bag so all the parts make it to the customer. ... show more

This was the second set I purchased and this was the better of the two it held the canvas evenly and stretched it wonderfully tight

    • Makes stretching so much easier!
I had previous model which was smaller, without rubber handles and not the rubber pads on the actually clamps preventing an even stretch, that one lasted me about 8 years of constant use. These canvas pliers are larger in both plier head and handle opening with rubber pads on the clamp and handles making stretching canvas and linen (raw or gesso'd) both easy with even pressure. If you stretch your own surfaces this is a must have. ... show more

Works perfectly. Only suggestion is when you get it and position the spring, you may want to put a small drop of glue on each end of the spring so it doesn't jump out if you accidentally bump it with your finger when working....

I have bought over 20 pairs of these in the past few years and this is the first time the grips actually stayed on. I saw that someone posted that their pair wasn't so lucky, but mine works well. After some strong pulling and stretching, this pair is still working well. Will be buying more from this buyer. Let's hope the next few pairs work out well, too. PS: I don't really use the spring,while stretching... but some may find it helpful. ... show more
