    • New point of view for me ... Same message
Recently bought a 2nd copy for my brother who was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. (I'll leave that with God and not doctors). I read a lot of christian books, but I'd never heard of Oswald Chambers. What I loved about his writing was that he gives you new ways to look at scripture that you've read or heard a million times and maybe you never truly understood it. My brother is a deep thinker and I thought that it would be something for him to read. Me -- some of it went right over my head unless I read it multiple times, but then I did get it.     • A Strong/ Hard-Hitting Devotional
A giant among personal devotionals, My Utmost For His Highest pulls no punches. Though Oswald Chambers' ministry was cut short, God used him to pen a devotional that cuts straight to the core of man's nature. I highly recommend this devotional to anyone no afraid to face the truth of God's Word.

This book has been in my daily devotional reading every day of the last 10+ years. It blesses me & challenges me to look to the Lord, to trust in the Lord, to grow in the Lord.     • Not scriptural- at all
Based on the description and other reviews, I was excited to receive this as a devotion for my husband and I to do each morning. Unfortunately, it contains no actual Scripture. It has a veiled attempt, but it is not at all Biblical. Jan. 1st starts out referencing some version of the "bible" called "Moffatt"...? I do not believe that the Word of God can or should be changed to suit what we would like it to say, so that it conforms to what we want. The Bible should never be changed to fit our desires or make it more "modern day"; we should conform to it, not the other way around. This book fails on day 1. I'm going to stick with Sword of the Lord publications. ... show more

This is a really good devotional very deep and thought provoking. You will find yourself reading it and then again and then come back years later and read it again it draws you in. He is a master at helping you to understand who Jesus really is and who we can be in your life. Oswald Chambers life was cut short but thanks to the hard work of his wife who compiled all his sermons and teachings from shorthand notes that she had taken. ... show more

The picture is the much worn copy of my 1975 addition of “My Utmost For His Highest”! I ordered a newer copy (not to replace) but to underline anew all the deep spiritual lessons in this priceless devotional book!

    • Thought provoking devotionals
Outstanding devotional. Thought proving and provides great examples of scripture in a short concise manner. I have bought a few for gifts as well. This is one of the best devotionals I have found.
