The media could not be loaded. A library. That has an ABC’s book. And it’s missing letters! The abc book is missing the page for the letters I and J.     • OUTDATED GENDER ROLES
My fiance just bought these books from amazon and we got them in the mail yesterday. There is a book about "people at work" The only women are a baker, nurse, florist, and a hairdresser. Chief, doctor, police officer, musician, teacher, farmer, mechanic ,fire fighter, carpenter, scientist, astronaut, and so on are ALL MEN. For the $50 we paid this is pretty sad. ... show more

This is the best set of books that I ever bought. I am an early childhood teacher and the mother of three kids. I’ve used these books with my baby since she was 6 month and will definitely use it at work. It is perfect for babies 6 months and up because they have real pictures and just one picture per page.     • This is the only set of books you need to start
I love love love this book set. I was more excited about it than my child. The small size fits my toddler's hands perfectly. I love the fact that the pictures are real photos and not some cartoon. It appears that the publisher took into consideration all the reviews and replaced capsicum with bell pepper and bittergourd with asparagus to cater to the US market. Someone complained about the gender roles in their review and they fixed it too. I love the fact that they have a revision section at the end of some books to reinforce the learning process. My toddler loves flipping through the books and looking at the pictures and she loves putting the books back in the box and taking it out. If i had to choose one set of books for my toddler, it would be this set. Now, I wish the publisher would do a different set in Chinese with hanyin pinyin. ... show more

Received in good shape. Books are small, but should be useful for my 1 y.o. now and in months/years to come. I picked one of the books at random (vegetables), opened it on a random page and got "capsicum' and "bitter gourd". Huh. LOL. Pardon my ignorance, I had to google bitter gourd. Well, looks like I learned something new myself from these books :-) ... show more

These books are so awesome and they are actually much more detailed than I thought! 2 year old loves them and they are great for fun learning! They got here sooner than the expected date and we absolutely use them everyday! Great for a 1st, 2nd and up; Birthday gift since everyone needs a refresher or needs to start learning the basics! They will come in handy for several years to come! ... show more

Our daughter put one of the books in her mouth for literslly 5 seconds and it disintegrated. The objects in the books are also quite unusual and beyond the target audiences comprehension. Ex: WTF is a capiscum or a custard apple?

    • Montessori Aligned and Addresses Gender Roles Reviews
The media could not be loaded. At first I was nervous about receiving the books as the reviews about misprints and stereotypical gender roles had me reluctant. What made me purchase was the lack of real life photo books that are Montessori aligned. When they arrived I went through all the books as suggested and stated multiple times, "Wow, these books are so good." Upon looking through all 20, there were no misprints. I also noticed that in another review it stated that there were few women depicted in the People at Work book and of the ones depicted, they were all stereotypical roles. I counted nine women in mine and they were a mix of various roles. I've attached a short clip here. This tells me that the publishers do republish based on consumer feedback, which is important. Overall, I am so excited for my little one to have a go at these books but will also watch over carefully has one of the reviews did mention that the quality of the books didn't hold up saliva. ... show more
