Our cats immediately jumped on this massive cat tree and loved it. The grey on is a big boy and I was concerned it wouldn't be sturdy enough for him. Not an issue at all. Easy to assemble and worth the price.

This is a great cat tree! I was very pleased with the ease of assembling the item. If I can do it, anyone can! I love that it only uses 23" of floor space which fits well in my apartment. It's sturdy enough to handle my two adult cats, even during "Cat Fight Nignt"! without the included wall strap. My cats won't venture into the hammock, but I fill it with toys and they start playtime by climbing up to it and popping up on the bottom of the hammock, sending toys everywhere! My kitties found that the ladder obstructed their ability to get to the top so I removed it. They use the sissel scratch posts located all over the place. A BIG treat are the toy mice that you can hang. The cats use them like tiny punching bags! It's great that I've been able to enrich their environment. Just like monkeys at the zoo!! Thank you! Overall, this cat tree has great height. Great for those kitties that like to look down on the peasants. It was fairly easy to put together and overall pretty sturdy. HOWEVER, there’s a couple of things that are not ideal. The base should be wider. It’s fairly wobbly when my kitty gets the zoomies—the thing sways like it will topple over. I ended up putting a filled 6 gallon water-can on the bottom level to add stability. While anchoring it to the wall helps I’m concerned that the constant swaying will damage to wall. The second challenge is—frankly it’s sized/designed for small to medium size cats. My kitty is a Maine Coon. He’s neither small nor medium. He’s BIG. Luckily he’s fairly flexible but I had to leave off the ramp to the top level which is no big deal. However the cut out for the third level (level above the kitty cubby) is ridiculously small. I’m honestly surprised he fit through it. So overall I’m mostly pleased with the cat tree. If I could change one thing it’s definitely the base—totally needs to be bigger and heavier. So I give it 4 stars, on the other hand, my kitty loves it—he gives 5 stars. ... show more

I shopped for a carefully for a safe cat condo. This one has a smaller footprint and fits both of my cats - a 9.5 lb and a close to 14 lb larger cat. They both love the basket. I was concerned about it breaking - they previously had a cheaper smaller basket and it didn't break over the years. This time I also ordered a replacement basket from another seller. The basket that shipped with this cat condo is just as large and the metal felt more stable and sturdy than the replacement. I pushed the basket inward toward the front to where the rim slips over the board on that level. Between that and the support of the pole on the unattached side, the basket does not bend at all with the heavier cat. I think that maybe baskets break sometimes because someone tries to bend it back and that weakens the metal - feels like sturdy metal to me. This way, it bends as little as possible and if I see it out of place, I just push it back inward. The "better" basket I bought to replace did not have nearly as much metal as this one and I still haven't even installed it. I didn't strap the condo to the wall as it is pretty stable. There are many (all) staples exposed on the poles. They are much smaller than a normal sized staple and are mostly upright. I installed very consciously with the few off-vertical staples and maybe most staples in the direction least likely to be used by the cats - especially the outside - it is possible for the cats to run straight up from floor to the top like a tree. It's a really nice cat tree except for the staples and I just watch it closely to keep it safe. There has not been one problem, except the heavy cat ran all the way to the top and scared himself so much that he jumped off and avoided it until the next day. It was funny. The cat trees on the market today are in no way expensively constructed, and this one is no exception. The thing that makes this choice better than most (all?) of the others in this price range is the design. Cardboard tubes are quite strong and reasonably light to ship, but the staples that are often used to hold the plastic end caps with threaded inserts are the usual point of failure. The designer of this model kept that in mind and each layer/story is supported at multiple points. Other designs have single support posts for top level kitty watch points. My furry adventurers dash up one side and leap off the other repeatedly. Where previous trees have had the top levels torn off and have tipped over (that strap to secures the tree to a wall might here been better installed rather than tossed in the garbage) this version is heavy enough that despite the early opening of the new attraction, no disasters happened. Both of my boys climbed each level as it took shape and got the whole structure to rock a bit, but the new tree held strong, so I winged the strap for this one as well. Assembly went quickly as I cut the end off the included Allen wrench and stuck it in a cordless drill. You could assemble it with elhow grease and profanity, but the drills is much easier and faster.
