  • Kids and adults love it
We love the game clue, so I’m always looking for books to read with my 10 and 8 year old. It’s the perfect family bedtime read - we read the stories together and try to solve the mysteries! I love the dark and scary old-fashioned artwork too - beautifully done!! I wish they made more!! Can’t find anything like it - very unique. ... show more

  • Some good, some bad
I like about half of the cases in here. I end up having to use the hints in some because there is no guiding clues in the narrative, and in others the clues are glaringly obvious. The other half of the cases, with hints in the narrative and clues you have to think about, are what makes the book worth it. I think teenagers and up would be able to solve this book based on difficulty level. I wish the case hints were printed in the same section as their respective cases, so you don’t accidentally read a hint for another one while checking the back of the book for the one you’re working on. I cover the case hints and solutions with sticky notes and only reveal the one I need at that time to avoid spoilers. Overall, this book provided about a week of evening wind down activity for me during a stressful season. The purchase was worth it for that alone. ... show more

  • A beautifully illustrated and comforting bit of fun
If you’re seeking a real whodunnit that demands tedious attention to detail and complicated logistical skills, this isn’t for you. However, a sweet and gorgeously illustrated book of thoughtful premises and novice-friendly mysteries is what this book offers. Perfect for a cozy afternoon or reading with a 13+ child. Yes, the illustrations might make the solutions a bit harder to come to an independent conclusion, but the clues in the appendix help guide the reader to understand the author’s artistic method. The solutions that may seem obvious to some do not negate the fun others might enjoy searching for answers. I have thoroughly enjoyed this and will seek other works from this author. Lighthearted books like this are in short supply, and a wonderful distraction. ... show more

  • Entertaining but Full of Errors
I was able to enjoy this book as an entertaining wind down routine, but the errors and hard to read drawings made the experience less satisfying. The “Sweet Death” puzzle was clearly not looked over before publishing. The drawings were hard to decipher in some puzzles. The answer section could also use a little info on motive, etc. after the information is given. Some of the last puzzles were a little weak. Not a waste of time- just wondering how this book was created without at least checking the accuracy of the puzzles and clues. Legibility should have been checked. ... show more

  • Challenging, and fun
My husband and I love to do crossword puzzles. But I like to switch it up with other types of puzzles. This one is very interesting because it has pictures in the style of Edward Gorey. You have to look at the pictures very carefully to solve the problems. Some are easy, and some are challenging. A few are well impossible when the pictures are difficult to interpret. It definitely challenges the brain and the stories or the Mysteries are a lot of fun. ... show more
