  • Gimmicky Approach Undermines Genuine Self-Improvement Potential
Format: Paperback
Let That Sh*t Go" attempts to combine humor with meaningful personal development, but the execution feels more focused on shock value than substantive growth tools. While the irreverent tone initially seems refreshing compared to overly earnest self-help materials, the novelty wears thin quickly and begins to feel gimmicky rather than genuinely helpful. What appealed to me initially was the promise of a no-nonsense approach to letting go of negativity and creating positive change. The concept of using humor to make personal development more accessible has real potential, and there are moments where the casual tone does help normalize difficult emotional work. However, the heavy reliance on profanity feels forced and distracting rather than empowering. Instead of creating a relaxed, authentic atmosphere for self-reflection, the constant crude language becomes a barrier to taking the content seriously. The journal prompts themselves are fairly generic and don't offer unique insights or approaches that justify the edgy branding. The physical quality is adequate with decent paper that handles various pen types, but the overall design lacks the thoughtfulness you'd want in a tool meant for meaningful personal work. The layout feels rushed, and the prompts don't build on each other in ways that create genuine momentum for change. For the price point, there are far better self-reflection journals that offer more substantial guidance and lasting value without relying on shock tactics to maintain interest. Skip this unless you're specifically drawn to the profanity-laden approach - better options exist for genuine personal development work. ... show more

  • The Title says it All
Format: Paperback
The media could not be loaded. I got this as a Christmas gift for a friend that has some anxiety and depression. I sadly haven't been able to give it to her just yet due to quarantines. Sometimes she has a hard time reaching out to people so I bought this journal for her because 1) it seems cute and fun & 2) it has some really helpful advice. One journal entry is titled "call somebody who gives a f***" and asks for you to reflect on those people you can reach out to and then implores the reader to actually reach out. It also includes little quotes and tid bits about life and reality (i.e symbolism, changing your perspective, being positive..and if you cant at least being realistic, etc.). Once I got the book and read through it to see if it would be something she would like, I actually bought a second one for another friend and shipped it straight to her address since she lives hours away. She absolutely loved it. This book does contain adult language without censoring in the actual pages. I like it that way. I like that because it makes it very adult and in a way the language makes the advice more real. It's like an actual friend telling you to so something for your benefit instead of a regular self help book, but I also know some people are more reserved and may not enjoy that aspect. I say go with your guy. If you read the title and are absolutely turned away by it, you most likely wont enjoy the inside. Just be careful not to judge a book too harshly by the cover because this book has some really great advice and amazing little passages that could help change your perspective. ... show more

  • Not Just a Journal
Format: Paperback
This is more than just a journal. There are great writing prompts to help you replace those negative thoughts and hilarious inspirational quips. This journal is a great way to relax before bed. It's very freeing to just let go of all the bad crap that happened throughout the day. The profanity is my favorite part of the entire book. Very much like my real life. This book makes me feel normal. Like there are other people out there dealing with the same crap. I don't feel so isolated by all the thoughts in my head. I recommend this book because it is both practical and funny. A great way to begin learning how to live a more peaceful life. ... show more

  • Great book!
Format: Paperback
Bought this for myself and then years later bought a copy for my husband to help him with "journaling." Easy to do activities that serve purpose in mental health recovery. I would by annually as your answers may change.

  • motivating, and actually helpful
Format: Paperback
I really liked this journal more than I expected. It’s simple, easy to use, and doesn’t feel overwhelming or preachy. The prompts are straightforward and actually make you pause and reflect without feeling like homework. What I appreciate most is that it doesn’t try too hard. It encourages letting things go in a realistic way, not in a “just be positive” kind of mindset. It’s easy to pick up, write a little, and move on with your day feeling lighter. The layout is clean and inviting, and it doesn’t feel intimidating even if you’re not someone who journals every day. You can use it at your own pace, which makes it feel more personal and less like an obligation. ... show more

  • Charming and fun!
Format: Paperback
Love, love, love this journal! It makes me pause, reflect, and not take life so seriously. I use pencil so I can come back and laugh at my own notes later. Happiness really is a lifelong project, and this book makes the work a little more fun.
