    • Worked great for one string of lights - but not another!

I have a 10' string of lights that I bought about 15 years ago. I kept the box and the voltage rating of the bulbs wasn't listed. I also have an 18' string of lights that I bought about 3 years ago and it said 2.5V bulb on the box. Both were made by Holiday Time. Both have 50 bulbs per segment: 120V/50 bulbs = 2.5 volts per bulb. I won't bore you with the lengthy troubleshooting I went through (FYI I'm a retired electrical engineer) but the conclusion is unmistakable: the Mudder 2.5V mini bulbs work great on the 10' string but on the 18' string, the new bulbs are dim. To take Mudder bulbs out of the picture, I took a good bulb from the 10' line and put it in the 18' line: dim bulb. I took a good bulb from the 18' line and put it into the 10' line and it blew out immediately. I see that in the summary of the critiques there were a few more positives than negatives but they were both pretty close to 50% which further substantiates the idea that there are at least 2 different kinds of lines from Holiday Time. I plan on calling their tech support to understand what the difference is and what kind of bulb I need for my 18' line. ... show more

750 lights later these are a great value. So I have an older tree that seems a bit wider and higher quality than what you can buy from big box stores these days unless you spend $400+. With my tree I'm not sure what happened but somehow every single light on my tree, all 750, blew out. Somehow none of the fuses in the plugs had been blown from whatever power surge caused this. So I ended up buying two 400 packs of these lights to try and replace them. After doing about 40 I was ready to give up but my kids for some reason loved this tedious job of changing out tiny light bulbs. With them so excited to do this we spent the next several days and knocked them all out. As you can see in my picture they light up well and look good. Since I was replacing all of them I cant say if they would be the exact brightness of what you may already have but we're happy with the brightness shown here. They dont get hot and havent blown out yet. As far as quality goes I had none that shorted out as I was careful to be sure I had each leg wire separated when putting them in the base. Out of the 800 I bought I only found 4 were broken or missing wires. Given the total amount Id expect a few to be bad so 4 is definitely a good amount. I see earlier reviews talk about quality and after using 750 I feel the quality is there. One thing to keep in mind is to check your cord or use manual to see what the specs on your existing lights are such as voltage. Just because it fits doesn't mean its right for you. I bought these because they matched exactly what my tree user manual said a replacement should be. If you're replacing a lot of lights that match these specifications then I think these will work great for you. Just dont get stuck replacing over 700 like me unless you have a few helpers around. ... show more

Every one of the bulbs worked and were easy to install. It saved my tree but the old bulbs were failing on the tree that is why I bought the 100 bulbs. My tree is about 8 years old and the bulbs are starting to fail all over the tree. This saved me from buying another $400 tree.

These bulbs worked for me after having to replace about a hundred burned out bulbs on my Christmas tree. Their color is bright white, not warm (yellowish) or cool (bluish) white; the product description stating only “clear” could have been more descriptive in that regard because now my tree has warm and bright white lighting. Only annoying thing was having to spread the metal contacts on each bulb by hand enough so they fit through the holder properly. Glad to have all the lights on my tree working again! ... show more

Are these bulbs were replacements for my string of Christmas lights that had a section that went out. I went through and replaced bulbs and these may be perfect for a different type of flight but for mine we’re very very dim.

I hate fixing string lights aka Christmas lights. I’ve wasted money on those Light Keepers and other novelty gadgets, but for me, the best method for fixing most lights is to swap out the fuses and the light bulbs themselves. I don’t bother testing each light or any of that nonsense. The Mudder brand is the most consistent replacement for a good price, and the quality is great. I’ve fixed several lights for fall and Christmas, and plan to fix other sets in my garage. Do yourself a favor get these. ... show more

No issues with operation. Easy fix for string of lights on tree that would be harder to restring than repair. 50 lamps needed for each burnt out section having blackened bulbs and shunt failures.
