One handle for two pots? Fail. The handle tucks into the pots nicely, so why not provide one per pot? Plastic on the handle directly in the line of potential camp fire? Fail. This has been shown by other reviewers to totally destroy the securing function of the handle to the pot when it melts. This factors definitely detract from customer loyalty and I will shop with a company that offers camping-centric design next time. ... show more

    • Epic downgrade from older model.
One of the biggest disappointments in my camping kit. I had the older model (MSR alpine cook set) for years and absolutely loved it. I lost it when my shop burned down, so I purchased this new set. It is a little lighter, and the new nonstick seems to work pretty well, but they are so thin and delicate that you can literally dent them just with your fingers. They don’t cook as evenly as the old set either. I assume it’s because they are so thin. The new handle design is a toss up. It works great when attached, but is awkward to remove and switch to the other pot while balancing on a cook stove, or while it’s hot. The lid works pretty well, but unlike the old ones, it has the drain holes in it, so it can not double as a plate when needed. I feel like MSR cut the weight in the wrong place on this set. I can’t really recommend this kit, and I’ll be looking for a new system. ... show more

    • Only products that must post this warning are seriously dangerous
The California warning is not because something contains micro amounts of a substance that causes cancer, the law can be looked up and it says that the warning must be included ONLY IF the use of the product exposes you to enough of the toxins to be a real and true health risk. Its not a tree hugger law, 67% of the stated voted this law in so you are informed and not harmed without knowing that what you are about to use will make you sick in due time. It does not take a lot of exposure as the exposure rate is high enough to, after testing, be a true danger to you and your family. I got my cookware, saw the warning, that means I handled a toxic package only to learn I would give myself and my family cancer if I started using it. If the exposure is small, no waring is required, this has to be an exposure bell ringer to get this warning. It is not posted on the Backcountry site yet but it is on the box and you will see it if you buy this, as you handle it and are exposed that is. BEWARE. You seek to have fun with your family not harm them, think this one over and look at other products and brands that don't outsource to the lowest bidder with damaging consequence for you. ... show more
