  • Gets you what you need
Awesome board with all the bells and whistles at a price you can pay, the RGB looks good and tasteful too. Had no problem with installing and setup and have been running flawlessly since.

  • Swapped from a Gigabyte.
I had purchased a Gigabyte MB from amazon, and it only lasted under 1 year. I have used MSI in the past, and wanted to see how they hold up. The ease of install was a dream and overall I just like the MB way more then my old Gigabyte. Has 3 m2 slots with nice heat sinks, and front side USB support for C. RBG onboard control, and just overall a banger of a MB. I game 4-5 hours daily as a hobby, and am very pleased. ... show more

  • It's a bit overkill for my needs but I love it.
I like to build a computer that will last a very long time. I tend to build on components that can be overclocked and take a beating even though I don't overclock the CPU. I wanted to have a motherboard that would allow me to run the RAM at the RAMs full speed. I also like the look of it and how MSI works with corsair lighting to a degree. I wanted mosfets that had good heatsinks and a motherboard that would support an Intel I7-10700K while also be future proofing for the next generation CPU. Another requirement was to truly support an NVMe drive for the primary drive. Since this is probably the last computer I will build for myself, I wanted it to be tricked out and last. I went with a MSI Graphics card, Seisonic P/S, Samsung NVMe, Crucial SSD, Corsair Vengence RAM and a pair of Seagate Wolf mirrored data drives all sitting in a Fractal Design Define7 Case. I don't plan on gaming, just photo processing and place to land my music. Maybe down the road, I'll let my daughter game on it. I think the audiophile caps and components were a strong push to this model vs the MSI version one lower. ... show more

I'm writing this to get out in front of my original one-star review. (Amazon is reviewing it. I hope they dump it.) I love this mobo. It replaced an MSI Platinum from 4 years ago and it's great. I especially like its heft: the Platinum was the first motherboard I'd used for a project that felt really solid and not like a 5 1/4" floppy disk. The Z490 ACE follows that tradition to a "T." Because I missed it, I didn't know SATA ports 2, and 5 &6 would be unavailable if you used M.2 slots 1 and 2 respectively. I had a WD 2 TB Blue SSD plugged into SATA 2 and kept getting a Genie error on boot. I thought I had a bad board. That led to a $700 mistake I won't recount here. I wrote a scathing indictment of MSI' s "lack of detail" regarding this in a one-star review I just posted. I was wrong! I just reviewed the installation manual and it's right there in black and white. This board is great as is and even better for the price. I can't recommend it highly enough. ... show more

  • VRM Fan sounds like a jet engine.
I had brought this motherboard in October of 2020. And I want to say that this motherboard, At least the one I got had a problem that no one had really talked about much. The Built-in VRM/MOSS Fan is way too loud and I'm not overclocking. Here are the things I have tried. - Flashing the bios - Resetting the bios. - Called MSI themselves. They did not really help that much. I have been dealing with this VRM fan issue for months and I'm considering replacing the motherboard alltogether. ... show more

  • Great But, One Small Design Flaw
Looks great, like the addition of a switch to turn leds on and off, and works like a charm for overclocking. Though, I do have one small issue that is rather specific that I'm sure most others may not have. The USB 3.1 ports on it are on a right side of the board, and I have a NZXT S340 case. Unfortunately the location makes it extremely hard plugging in the cable for that with my case as I had to even pull a bit on the metal shroud piece just to give it enough space to do so. You cannot even plug it in before mounting the board as there's no clearance for the cable plug. I'm sure it may not be an issue with most other cases but for me it was. This review is for the MSI Review Rebate Program. Had to include the latter statement for the $50 rebate at the time of this review. ... show more

  • A Beast of a Motherboard
This motherboard is fantastic. But then again most MSI products are great. Easy install, instructions are extremely clear and precise(If you need them). Currently have my 10700k OC'd at 5.3ghz. Currently has the same GUI interface we've used for a few years. Great MOBO definitely recommend.
