  • One of the best widescreen monitor ever
I've had this monitor for about 4 months now and have no troubles with it. The 100hz refresh rate is nice for gaming and the stand is quite adjustable and holds really nicely. I use this monitor mostly for productivity but it's still nice for gaming. I would recommended you getting it at a cheaper price when it does go on sale. The lightning in the back of the monitor is a plus and gives it this techy vibe. ... show more

  • Perfect General-Use 21:9 Monitor
I do a little bit of everything with my home PC - browsing, streaming, gaming, programming, photo/video editing, light CAD work, spreadsheets, writing reviews on the stuff I buy. etc. I had been looking for YEARS for a 21:9 panel that had the right combination of features/price/brand but had never ran into one that I felt comfortable committing to; now that I have found the MSI MAG342CQRV, I'm glad the search took me that long. This thing is just a hair off from perfect. Colors are vivid, darks are dark enough, images don't tear or blur, the curvature is immersive from the normal 36" sitting distance from the panel, I don't find myself having to crane my neck to see what's over in this corner or that one, and frankly, it just looks GREAT sitting there on the desk. Functionally, this monitor has about 109 pixels-per-inch, which, you want 100 or better. I haven't noticed any backlight bleeding, but I usually work in a semi-well-lit area and it would take extreme bleeding for me to notice it. The buttons are in a logical position and placement under the bezel, and the menu is easy enough to navigate once you figure out how each button navigates through it. My only nitpick is that it does not have USB passthrough, which is a "nice-to-have" feature but hardly one most people will miss. As many reviews state, it *does* have a large footprint, but, it's a large monitor... I'd be more concerned if it had a SMALL footprint! As it is, the stand is simple to look at, easy to assemble, and has just the right amount of 'give' in its adjustments to where getting just the right angle doesn't require brute strength, but it also doesn't spin around on its axis if you sneeze. Some reviews point to the external power cable as a 'con' but I actually prefer it... the thinner cable is easier to route/hide than a standard C13 power cable, AND it moves the most common point of failure outside of the monitor and into a package you can replace if it ever does go bad on you. Some caveats, if you're moving from a dual-monitor setup (like I was) and consolidating to a single, large panel. Where I used to silo applications by opening them on a specific monitor, I now have to do that by dragging the app boundaries so that app occupies a given portion of the screen. It's not a big issue, but it did necessitate a workflow change that I hadn't considered prior to purchase. Also, most web pages are not built to scale to such widths, and I found myself zooming in - not because I can't see the text, but because it seems like such a waste to have a foot of white space on either side of the main page frame. All in all, I am very pleased with this monitor, it has been a huge upgrade (literally) to my twin 1080p panels, and does everything I ask of it. ... show more

  • Great value
So, 1- it's great for work. Font is crisp and easy to read 2- It works with Samsung dex and syncs of in full res 3440×1440 on Samsung dock 3- Swivels and tilts far more than expected. Great viewing angles without moving the monitor. 4- color reproduction is simply perfect. 5- a ton of options

  • So good so far. (Update)
Just got the monitor and as someone who has never gotten a "good" computer before for gaming this just blew my mind. Before this I was actually looking into getting a 49" monitor but dang this thing is huge. Unfortunately with the stand the monitor comes out too far that I actually need to move my head as back as possible as to not hurt my eyes with the my normal distance. I will be looking into getting a mount for it. No dead pixel. No display port cable just hdmi. I'll try to update after using it for a bit longer. (Update) Screen would go black for a few seconds and come back on every now and then. That went on for a month or two as I had no idea what I needed to do. However, after some tweaking (Im not 100% what exactly fixed it as I was trying lots of different thing) I stopped having that issue afterwards. Monitor itself is still great! ... show more

  • Few small quirks and things that could be improved but absolutely worth it for the price
I have 2 of these, one is for my main desk, the second is Vesa mounted as part of a racing sim cockpit. What you should know is, - Picture is great for a VA Panel of this cost - Curve is also very good for the cost - Really good base stand included if you aren't mounted, it's sturdy and adjustable The negatives are, - !WARNING IF YOU ARE DOING A VESA MOUNT!: It says Vesa compatible but DOESN'T ACTUALLY COME WITH A MOUNT PLATE, NOR DOES MSI SELL IT, you have to buy it separately and they don't make it clear. I had to use the mounting plate from an old tv arm I wasn't using anymore. - The on monitor buttons are awkward to press, they require oddly too much force, which is a nitpick for sure, but still. - There isn't a display port cable included and you need it to get 100hz, yet an hdmi one which can't is, which imo is dumb as tarnation So overall - For the price that it is this is a great monitor for gaming, it's only 100 hz, so if you're playing competitive twitch shooters at 6 million fps, then you'll want to spend more. For most standard gaming purposes this absolutely meets my needs and is really good for the cost even with some minor flaws ... show more
