  • Sturdy and heavy.
We purchased an earlier version of this base which included a cross brace at the midpoint of the two legs. I would prefer it still have this feature, but guess it added to the weight and cost. It is a solid base and heavy -- a good thing. The manual crank eliminates the concern of motor failure. In actuality, you don't raise or lower these desks nearly as frequently as you think you might. I think by paying more you get more steel. I bought a prefabricated top at a big box store for less than $25. Works fine. ... show more

  • Works for us
The Mount-It works great with a desk top we already had. The only problem we had was we were shipped the wrong item the first time, had to return and reorder.

  • Solid frame, but needed replacement crank
Update: After contacting customer service they were able to replace the crank with a sturdier model. The desk now works exactly as it should, but I do question why the actually decent crank doesn't just originally come with the desk. All-in-all, the end product is solid. No complaints about that. Original Review: The frame itself is solid and easy to assemble. I love that it extends horizontally with more than a tiny bar to support the table top. However..... The handle assembly is absolute garbage, which renders the whole product near useless. When turning the handle it slips if you don't go super slow, even when the desk is empty. Even worse, the handle won't collapse back under the desk. Pushing on it with an extreme amount of force has sometimes allowed it collapse, but if not done with a great deal of care, it will slip from it's mount rather than telescoping inward. In short, this desk hold things up, which is neat. But if you want to actually utilize the sit/stand functionality then look elsewhere. I definitely overpaid for what is essentially some steel table legs. ... show more

  • Solid frame, but needs better instructions
Good: Very solid frame. I built a 31" x 86" desktop from 3/4" plywood that I laminated. This thing works well. The gear crank smooth and feels stable at standing desk heights. Bad: First step is set extend middle crossbar to desired length. I planned my desk around the frame being 63" wide (max of 63.5 I thought), therefore I set the crossbar to 63." However, I had to reduce the crossbar to 59.5" so that the sync rod (transfers cranking from one side to other) would fit. Only realized this AFTER I had drilled pilot holes. Little irritating. ... show more

  • Sturdy, well made; even when top exceeds recommended dimensions
We received the new design, slightly different than pictured on website. The legs on the frame we received are squared not rectangular, there is no crossbar between the legs, and the top crossbar is made up of two parts not three. If you think about it, the new design is probably sturdier than the previous design. I mounted the top to the frame this morning and it feels great. Very sturdy and the slight sway is mostly due to the frame being over carpet. The top is 1" thick, 24" deep and 96" wide. The mounting screws are perfect for a 1" thick top. The frame fits perfectly on a top just 24" deep. Even with a top 8' wide it feels sturdy. I set the frame legs at about 58" apart. The top hangs about 16" on both sides. I estimate that between the top, two laptops, three monitors, two desk lamps, speakers, coffee mug, etc. it has about 90 pounds on the frame and it is easy up and down. ... show more

  • Attractive, simple, versatile and sturdy.
Review for: Mount-It! Stand Up Desk with Manual Crank, Frame Only Exceptionally well-engineered desk stand. We’re using these for office work stations with tops made of finished solid core (don’t use hollow) interior door slabs at 32” x 80” purchased at the big box. Assembly takes about 20-30 minutes each and all parts were a perfect fit. Our solid tops and office equipment amount to +/- 50lb and the height adjustment works flawlessly so these can be adjusted easily by anyone at any time. Very happy with this purchase. Mount-It reviews seem to be spread all over their products so note: This review is for the ""Mount-It! • I was at one point considering the motorized model of this desk but am glad that I purchased its less expensive mechanical sibling
Well built mechanical desk. I was at one point considering the motorized model of this desk but am glad that I purchased its less expensive mechanical sibling. Before making my purchase I did read some of the reviews and was a bit worried regarding assembly. The instructions are clear. I did find myself in a bit of a bind at one point where the adjustable hexagonal rods did not seem to align properly. This was easily solved by just loosening the leg screws enough to allow some movement allowing the rods to slip into place. Adjustability is smooth and does not require much effort. Very pleased with my purchase. ... show more

  • Sturdy
I attached a 2'x5' table top on this frame. It has to be another 2-3 inches wider to cover up the frame completely, but this one sits fine and feels very sturdy. The assembly took about 2 hours. There were some tricky moments - where the hexagonal rod is inserted into the tube that rotates to lift the desk up or down. It is very important to do this patiently. The frame itself is quite sturdy, but the parts are heavy and oddly shaped, so the assembly has to be tackled slowly and patiently. It is surely something that anyone can do. The Amazon-offered installation is over-priced. ... show more
