  • Works well and great price
Our shop receiver died so I needed to replace it. All our apps for listening is on our phone, music, satellite radio, news, etc so the am/fm receiving was no longer an issue and just went with this karaoke amp. We don't need audiophile level sound quality, so this unit is perfect and worth every penny. Lots of cool features. Blue tooth connectivity is great and decent range, I can walk around the whole shop with my phone with no issues, unless I go outside. Only issue was the handheld remote didn't work, but not a big deal for us, didn't bother with getting it replaced. There really is no excessive noise with this amp, works great! Great vendor, great product, great price, fast shipping. A+++ ... show more

  • WOW Amazing unit to play MP3's
First a couple of thing to say before I give you my honest opinion of the Moukey MAMP1 Amp. I just purchased this for my own use and have not received anything for posting this review. I was looking to replace an older amp and 50 CD Pioneer music box that shot craps in my garage. With all the new technologies out there I did some research on converting music CD to MP3’s. I found a program called Express Burn to convert the CD’s to MP3’s. Very simple to use and does not take a long time for the CD to convert. I would create a folder on my computer by the artist name to save the MP3’s in. I did this some time ago to be able to play in my car. But now that my garage Music system took the crap I started searching online for something I could replace the CD’s with the MP3’s. Which leads me to this review. I found the Moukey MAMP1 Amp and reading the current reviews most people had positive reviews. I seen where it would play MP3’s and has a folder knob but not a lot of info on how it all works. I tried to find the user manual on line with no luck. So I am in hopes that I may be able to help others with this review. Here we go. I got this new Moukey MAMP1 all hooked up to 2 speakers in my garage. I configured a 15gig USB Drive with over 500 songs within 44 folders. Installed the USB drive in the Moukey and turned the Input Selector knob to the MP3/W. And this thing just started playing music. Loud music for my 2 stall garage. Crazy good sounds for the money. The user manual was not much help so I just started pushing buttons on the remote to see what all this Amp could do. The CH- button will take you back to the previous folder, the CH+ will forward you to the next folder. The 2 arrow button to the left takes you back to the previous song and the 2 arrows to the right will take you to the next song. When it hits the last song in the current folder it will move to the next folder. The only thing I wished it had was a LED screen with the song name. It just shows the running time for the current song. It does also have an EQ button that has a few preset EQ channels to change the sound of the music. The volume button will only go from 0-30 on the remote but if you set the Master Volume knob to a higher setting then you can play with the remote volume up and down. The knobs on the unit will do the same thing as the remote. I have not tested much more than this. Bottom line is if you are looking at a reasonably priced Amp that will do the MP3’s this might be for you. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone looking. Obviously it is not a Yamaha Amp but it is a powerful little amp. Still early in my testing so I am in hopes it lasts a long time. ... show more

  • Outstanding value with a couple of design quirks
I bought this to replace a twenty-five-year-old Sony receiver that I paid 10x as much for when new; the left channel finally died on that one. Everything has changed since to '90s...we used to buy music, now we rent it. 99% of the music we listen to is delivered online through many Amazon devices installed for whole-house music. However, we still maintained the old Sony stack, because the cabinet speakers were great, and because it was easy to just roll with it as set up so long ago. We do like to listen through these speakers in the living room, so I junked the Sony stack and replaced it with this Moukey fed primarily through a Dot for streaming. It sounds great, I can't tell the difference between this and the old Sony. Wile I was at replacing it, I took the opportunity to remove the old Sony matching tuner and tape deck. I wanted to junk the Sony jukebox and the 300 CDs it contains, but my wife wouldn't have it, so it still sits there unused and hooked up with the tiny Moukey sitting on top of it. This is an EXCELLENT VALUE. It does have a couple of quirks. Though the FM tuner receives fine, station selection is very awkward. When new, it scans and catalogues all receivable stations, and keeps them in memory designated P01 through P50. But accessing them afterward is frustrating. You can access them directly by entering a frequency with the little remote, but it's a cheesy little thing, and often misses a depressed digit. Still, it's the best way to get the station you want. We don't use FM anymore, so it's not really an issue for us, but another quirk is that the station will randomly switch not relatable to any other action. I only know because I can see that the display has moved off 100.3 where we keep it set. It's not a big deal, and only happens once every week or two, but it is weird. ***Edit: this turns out to be interference from a Vizio sound bar remote. Every time we use that remote, it changes the FM station.*** The Moukey runs VERY cool, barely warm to the touch. The Sony ran a lot hotter. Hopefully, that will result in long life. We've been using it daily for about a month, so I can't speak to durability. It seems solidly made, there's nothing cheap about the appearance or the feel. The old Sony had scads of inputs and sensible input switching control, and the Moukey has many fewer, and some of the sources aren't separated on the rotating source knob, but require an additional soft key press on tiny buttons. I knew about this in advance, and since I just wanted an amp that worked reliably to stream music from an Echo device (Dot, in this case) it's ok for me. For that (streaming), it seems perfect. Ideally, I would wish for a better input switching scheme, a better station selection scheme for FM, and a better remote, along with at least two additional inputs. But this was a great alternative to another $1,000 amp or fixing the ancient Sony. If I ever wanted to listen to various FM stations regularly, I would probably get the old Sony tuner out of the basement and reinstall it ahead of the Moukey, but that's not going to happen in my case. I like this little thing, and it's unbelievable that it's under $100. ... show more
