  • Great little receiver at a bargain price
I've had this 2 months now & have used it quite a bit in that time. I also have a Phillips 30watt little stereo that I've compared it with. It's a funny looking thing that looks like a car stereo & even uses a 12V AC adapter. Sound quality: Paired with the passive 55w Moukey speakers, it sounds great. The bass definitely doesn't get down to 20hz as they claim, but for a bedroom office they sound balanced. Treble can get very crispy, bass gets muddy the higher you turn the knob. The preset EQ settings are useful. "Rock" sounded the best to me for most musical genres that have drums. "Classical" & "jazz" sounded great for those styles, with the exception of big band swing revival bands sounded best on "rock." "Cut" is a mid range cut, so is "Pop," which also had a high boost. Both sounded hollow & shrill to me. "None" sounded great too for a flat EQ response that could be adjusted to taste with the bass & treble knobs. Power: This stereo gets incredibly loud & doesn't distort until you are probably way too loud for the room you're in anyway. Turning the master volume to the 5th or 6th notch, then using the remote to truth the volume down to 20 or so works best for me. That way I can use the remote to turn it up or down. At night, the 4th notch will keep your neighbors from calling the cops. Compared to the Phillips stereo, the MouKey gets louder, sounds cleaner, but doesn't have as much bass without getting muddy. (The MouKey speakers I paired it with are 3 way, while the Phillips is only 2, so it's not the most fair comparison.) Playing mp3s using the USB was a breeze, just type in the number of the tracks you're looking for. I have over 1k tracks on 20 different flash drives & had no problem finding the music I wanted to listen to. Ch+/- on the remote jumps 1 folder at a time, the arrows skip individual tracks, or type in the number you're looking for. I'd skip 100 or so at a time, find the band I wanted, then use Ch+/- to get the exact album. I deducted 1 star bcuz this really needs to scroll the album/track/artist metadata info on the screen. FM radio is easy to program. Just press the play/pause button & it'll find every station it can (plus a bunch more that are only static.) I found it best to keep the antenna down for this auto-programming to avoid getting too many weak, useless stations. Ch+/- on the remote will cycle thru all the stations, or you can either type in the preset #, or the frequency of the station you want. Bluetooth worked fine, but the range is limited. I can hear the signal degradation in Bluetooth compared to high quality mp3s (320kbps), so I don't use it often. Didn't use the karaoke function as none of my microphones have 1/4” plugs. Besides, the 90s called... they don't even want karaoke back. Stop it, please. You don't sound like Beyonce or Steven Tyler, don't try. I had originally bought this & the Phillips stereo with the intention of returning the one I liked the least. They both did different things well & other things not so well, so I ended up keeping both. I recommend the MouKey for anyone that wants a small, low power stereo receiver. Full disclosure: I have recently upgraded to the more expensive MouKey receiver & can honestly say this one here has better EQ settings than the "upgraded" more expensive one which only has "EQ0-5". They all sound terrible to me except EQ0. Not close to being as useful & musical as the EQ presets on this. If this one had any line-out connectors on the back at all, I would be returning the upgraded one. But, it doesn't. Also the telescoping FM antenna on this works much better than the long wire antenna that comes with the "upgraded" model. ... show more

  • Performance
It's a fairly good product only things I don't like is that one you can't choose the folders from your SD card or your flash drive there's no interface for it and also you have to be careful when using your SD card or your flash drive because it can restrict you from adding more music to your SD card or flash drive. If you want to use an SD card or flash drive use one that you don't care much about make sure you have a backup SD card or flash drive.I used an old Mp3 player that can store an SD card it plays great no issues I don't have to worry about having it being restricted because it's not inserted directly into the amplifier. The Bluetooth connection with a tablet or mp3 player is great no issues for me ... show more

  • Not much bigger than a car stereo, but it rocks and has tons of features.
I set this amplifier up with a couple of Onkyo speakers that are bigger than bookshelf units, but smaller than those massive floor speakers. They're about two feet high and good ones with three-ways and some heavy magnets behind them. This little amp had NO problem making nice (and loud) sound come out the fronts. First off...the pictures of the unit are deceptive. Not as in DISHONEST...but this thing isn't much bigger than a car stereo, and the power supply is strangely enough...12 volt through a plug-in 120-V converter. Which means you could theoretically put it in your car if you wished, although it's made for home stereo use. But I envisioned running it outdoors on a camping trip, hooked directly to a 12 volt battery, or through a deep cycle battery using an inverter. Weird, huh? But it's actually pretty smart because you can rig it to 12 volt or house current, whatever you wish. Power? Plenty enough. I raised the volume to about 20% and the wife started shouting at me from downstairs. Here are the features you need to know, and how they work: 1) There are two microphone ports up front, both with the standard 'guitar-size' plugs. You can run two mikes at the same time if you wish. There is a Microphone Echo control, as well as a Master Volume for the mikes. 3) The speakers connections in back are the old-fashioned spring-loaded, push-in-the-bare-wires type. Surprisingly NON-modern, but this means you can use your favorite non-modern speakers if you wish. If you have RCA connections off your speakers, it's an easy process to cut one side off an RCA connection, strip down the two wires, and hook them into this receiver. See YouTube for instructions. 4) I tested both the USB input slot, and the memory card slot. Both work, and played the tunes I had loaded onto them just fine. 5) The remote is a cheapie, but I didn't need it anyway. All the functions you need are up front, and I had no trouble determining what was what. 6) I also bought a Moukey microphone and ran that as well. The sound output is good, but you have to experiment on that by trying different settings on Master Volume, Mic Volume, Mic Echo, and using the bass and treble controls to get the right balance. I couldn't test that fully because of the wife. 7) It's only got connections for two speakers in the rear for straight stereo, no Home Theater stuff or Surround Sound or any of that. However, it has enough power that you could splice in two additional speakers if you wished. I wouldn't try this if your speakers are all really big speakers, though. Two decent ones will easily rock the neighbors. You are looking at 50 watts a channel with this unit, and that will reasonably rock your world or provide plenty of power at your next pool party or camping trip. 8) One thing I liked was all the turn knob controls. They feel smooth when you turn them, and are well-made, not cheap. They turn like smaller versions of those big classic receivers from Yamaha, Sony, and the like. Easy and smooth. 9) Yes...you CAN play music with it and SING at the same time. It will do that with either one, or two microphones. And it works just fine as a straight PA system as well. I think this unit will sound about as good as the speakers you hook to it. Better speakers, better sound. 10) On the rear of the unit are also two AUX inputs for your smartphone music, a CD player, or whatever you want to input into the receiver. It worked when I put a CD player to it just fine. But the main controls for menu selection will then be with the unit you hook to it. In other words, using a CD player you will have to adjust the volume FIRST from the CD player itself...and THEN make adjustments to treble/bass up front with the receiver controls. I probably won't do that much. A memory card or a USB flash drive loaded with your favorite songs will probably be easier to do anyway. And using a USB or memory card, you can skip songs easy from the front of the receiver. All in all, and since the unit is fifty bucks or less, you can't go wrong. And yes...the remote DOES come with a battery. Would I buy it again? Heck, yes. If you are looking for something you can use in your bedroom, or at parties, or going camping, you just can't go wrong. 10) There is a switch upfront that will pick up FM radio, but no AM, with a pull-up antenna on the back of the receiver. A nice touch. I gave it four stars instead of five only because it doesn't do AM radio. If it did, I could pick up NFL games and baseball out in the wilderness. ... show more

  • Great value
Tuner function leaves a lot to be desired. Bt works great. Sounds is decent. Good value for the money, especially if you mainly using for BT.

  • Works well for what it is
I'll start off by saying it's pretty good feeling material. Solid metal and has some weight to it. The product page isn't really missing any info. It has a single RCA input for a left and right channel and a single set of speaker out terminals. It has Bluetooth functionality that I was actually super impressed with. I was able to power two Bose bookshelf speakers and crank up the volume quite loud. I then also added a POWERED subwoofer to the system and ran 16 Guage wire out of the amp and then the sub had two sets of speaker terminals for the in from the amo as well as the out to the speakers. Because the sub was on its own power I was able to get some very good base as well as keeping the bookshelves loud. For such a small package I was quite impressed. Just to make it clear the amp does NOT have a sub out. I was able to find a sub that worked without needing a sub out signal. ... show more
