  • Easy to use with clear sound and good range
These walki's are Easy to use with clear sound and good range. I got them to use on our camping trips with my kids (11 & 9 yo). We use them at campsites and when we are in an area that is fairly flat the range is really good, the hubby and I can be in the RV and the kids at the playground almost a mile away and we hear them fine. Hills do shorten the range but its till impressively good for our uses. I put rechargeable batteries in and have not have to replace them after about 10 hours of cumulative use. Great value for those with kids - we love them. ... show more

  • Worked great, clear, strong signal, perfect for off-roading trips in vehicles.
Very happy with these two-way radios. Strong signal out in the open, especially in areas without good cell phone service like going up a mountain trail. Used these radios recently off-roading in my truck up a mountain, easy and clear communication with other vehicle also on our trip. Actually saved me, since my truck was having an issue I didn't notice and the vehicle behind us was able to spot it and let me know before it became a big issue. Battery life seems good, voice quality very good as well. Only negative is the batteries are in there tight, you will need to use a flat head screwdriver to pry them out when it comes time to replace them, or a really strong finger nail. Note, you will need six AAA batteries to power them, so make sure to order them if you don't have them already. ... show more

  • My daughter likes the color, and they work well too.
My daughter bought these to keep in touch with her BFF who lives a few houses down from us in the neighborhood. I cannot say if they work for "miles" or not. I suspect that they don't work 20 miles unless it is some kind of ideal, amazing conditions. But they work well at distances of less than a mile from what we can tell. The rules and regulations regarding these are extremely confusing and not well explained. It is hard to fathom why they are allowed to sell something that so easily broadcasts on channels that appear to require a license without explaining it better and making it a little harder to select those bands without at least some sort of acknowledgment that you know those bands require a license. It is very easy to imagine my 8 year old daughter accidentally using one of those channels. I have set down with her and explained which channels appear to be off limits and I doubt she changes channels at all, but still it seems odd. Once you get past all the red tape and legal mumbo jumbo they appear to be fairly well made. We originally looked at some of the Chinese branded options at half the cost, but we couldn't make heads or tails of them and whether they were being honestly reviewed or marketed so we decided to go with a name brand that we trusted. I realize these are made in China as well, but one thinks that Motorola might have _some_ sort of quality control or checks and balance system to make sure they are ok. At the very least, maybe customer support if needed. They seem to work well and easily enough that my daughter can use it to talk, although she uses her iPhone without sim card and skype far more often so I'm not sure why she needed this, but it is her money and if she earned it, and it isn't being spent on hooking, liquor or drugs I generally allow it. By the way, it uses alkaline batteries and hasn't gone through them too fast, but rechargeable would have been nice. ... show more

  • Great for Backing up RV
These are much smaller then regular walkie talkies which is convenient. These were purchased to assist in the efforts of backing up an RV. SHORT range, clear enough to under stand the other person and the price point is a bonus. Don't listen the people who review and complain about the range or sound quality, They clearly know nothing about hand held radios. If they did they would have enough intelligence to buy a HAM radio or something not $28 plastic little cheap radios. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! But they work great for us and the nieces and nephews can play with them if they break who cares buy another set. ... show more

  • Baby Monitor for Toddlers
I bought these to give my six year old a way to talk to me when I'm in my mother's house (I live in a tiny home on her property) and they work beautifully! The range is quite impressive on them, with no interference. The batteries last a long time in them too. We accidentally left one on and it was still good 2-3 days later! I'm tempted to buy more of these so I can give a set to my parents too so they can just page me when they need me. A year later and we still use these. They even work well with our local frequencies. I've been picking up truckers off the highway when I'm fiddling around with em. These are very nice. I highly recommend if you need walkie-talkies, don't want to spend a ton, and last. (That last one says something. They have lasted the wrath of my now 7 y.o. son) ... show more

  • Hope you own a Battery factory!
Works just fine. Of course I knew , guess most people that used one of these cheap low quality radio would know its not going to reach 16 mile, 3/4 of a mile would be more like it. I was expecting that, what I wasn't expecting is they eat batteries like m+ms. 2 or 3 months, you'll more money in batteries than the radios cost. ... show more
