  • Excellent Two-Way Radio
Model name: T475
I bought this radio for yard work. It worked with no problem on low power mode around the yard (about an acre or so). We got bored and decided to test the range. I stayed at the house while two friends drove an atv through the neighborhood. They got to the edge of the neighborhood (3.9 miles according to google maps) and I could still clearly hear them on low power. The wind cancellation is also excellent. I had zero clue my friend was going 20+ mph on an ATV/4-Wheeler while he was talking to me. I used Amazon basics rechargeable batteries instead of the included battery packs and I had excellent battery life. We used them regularly during 8+ hours of yard work and it still showed 3/3 bars of battery life. This was with all the extra features turned on (vibracall, weather alerts, etc.). The emergency alert feature is a nice touch. Thankfully we didn’t need to use it, but we did test it and there is no way we would miss the emergency alert in case someone got hurt and needed immediate attention. Volume of radios is excellent. On full volume you could hear an incoming transmission while driving a zero turn mower (vibracall also helps with this). I cannot speak to the weatherproofing as I have not used them in poor weather, but it does seem to be a nice feature. Overall I am very happy with these radios, and would highly recommend them. They definitely live up to the Motorola name. I currently have 4 of these radios (Motorola talkabout T475), and plan to buy more. ... show more

  • The antidote to complexity in functional two way radios
Model name: T475
Sound quality is excellent. Intuitive user interface that barely requires a user manual. Build quality is exceptional for such an inexpensive device. Easy to learn, easy to use and yet it’s a tool not a toy (unlike many inexpensive two way radios). Comes fully complete. All in all, a deservedly five star product. ... show more

  • Good radio and encrypted.
Model name: T475
Friday June 27, 2025 I got this mainly for Off Roading, Camping or a place where there is no cell phone service. I’m a big fan of communication and having a radio is a big plus especially when you are driving a separate cars with a friend. My friend actually got this first and I ended up getting one for myself to have my own instead of using his. I’m giving this a 4 stars for many reasons even though I have not used mine yet, it was my friends radio. Range: It claims that it’s 35 miles. On our way back, my friend decided to let me hold onto his until our next trip. We both live less than 35 miles from each other and we were not able to communicate. Sound quality: Clear while not too far away from each other. Functionality: Since my friend been having the radio longer than me and I didn’t had the time to play around with it as much, when I got to the camp site (Off Grid), my friend was the one who paired our radios to be able to communicate and it works. I say the radio is very easy to use. Durability and Design: Love it! Charging capability: I guess it’s ok. It comes with a split wall charger. It would be nice if it’s a USB C so you don’t have to carry multiple. They do have a charging dock but you have to get that separately. For those of you who wants privacy and not allowing anyone to tap into your frequency, this radio is encrypted. It does come with an earpiece that I have not tried it yet. ... show more

  • Light weight, Very clear reception, Easy to use
Model name: T475
I'm an engineer, with a Ham Radio license, so I like using radios. The production floor where I work uses FRS radios to communicate with each other. They'd have gotten me one, but I figured I'd find one that I liked better. Now people don't have to come all the way upstairs to my office to get help, I'm a quick call away. Their radios are good, but normally last rough a single 8 hour shift. I find mine will handle all but 4 complete 8 hours shifts, and because they come as a pair, I easliy get a whole week and charge at home. Mine is light weight, and fits in my shirt pocket when I'm walking around. And, with 121 privacy codes for each channel, I can easily find an unused channel for privacy chats. All in all, I'd say it was a VERY good purchase - great value for the money ... show more

  • Batteries are garbage
Model name: T475
Purchased these new in October 2024. While they work decently well, they are not much different than the cheapo $20 radios in range or sound quality. By June 2025, the battery packs had already gone bad and were dying 1 hour into my road trip. I was hoping for better support, but after going back and forth with support, Motorola wanted me to pack up and ship the dead battery packs to them for an actual replacement, and said it could take over 2 weeks to ship out replacements. Since I already had minimal confidence in these batteries after dying so quickly, I will just use AA batteries instead of worrying about another dead battery pack a few months down the line. Bad value for money and I will not be using Motorola products in the future. ... show more

  • Great radios!
Model name: T475
I’m a youth pastor and purchased these for going to summer camp with my students and leaders. Each leader had them and they would last the whole day and we would charge them every night. Before with battery ones we would have to turn them off and on to try to save batteries but these lasted well. The high and low features did help a lot when we were on the far ends of the camp verses just around the corner from each other. Although after a full two days, the clip on my radio broke which was a huge bummer. Wish the clip was designed a bit better. ... show more
