We live in Argentina in a very large closed neighborhood, and the idea was for my girls to ride their bikes and have them on them with one device at home so i could keep in touch because we are NOT getting them cel phones anytime soon... let them be kids! The range works very well even with areas that have trees, you might hear a bit of static (around 1.5 miles away) but you CAN understand the other person on the other side and have the option to ring the device so they know they are being called. We haven't tried it further though. They are SO easy to use, very durable (they are being handled by kids on bikes...) and i just threaded a ribbon so they can hang it on their wrists or the bike handle. They are well designed and obviously portable. About battery.... i have still not re charged them (bonus on kids inicial excitement that keep pressing all the buttons and talking right next to each other) but chose this particular model for the functionality of just plugging them in when the battery dies and not buying loads of batteries instead. Caring for them will extend the battery life, like remembering to switch them off when you finish using them.. Overall they are fantastic, kids love them and I feel much more at ease knowing they can go around the neighborhood and just press a button if they need me. If you’re good with a 1 to 2 km range - these will work for you. You can get around 3 km with crystal clear conditions and clear line of site. Other than that, not worth the money if you want long range - you’re already at $100 with these - might as well pay for the ones that will get you the range you need (don’t be like me). But if you just want something for short range comms these are great. I honestly expected better range though given the way they were advertised. ... show more

Not as described. I used them on a cruise and the range is very limited. Even between cars, once they get a bit separated, they stop working. They look great and are comfortable, but the range is less than half a mile

These radios are nice and lightweight. They are easy to secure using the large slotted hole on bottom. Lightweight and easy to hold. Range is okay, but I feel it could and should be better. Controls are okay, the tone button is raised and in the way. In my group someone was constantly pressing the call button by accident. Charge port works, but feels awkward and a bit flimsy. That said, these have numerous rough trips with us through various conditions and they have held up. For the price, I think you're getting a good value. ... show more
