The feel is not like a cheap vinyl but is actually soft for an imitation leather. The zipper actually zips all the way so the coins do not fall out and the snap on the outside pocket snaps quickly almost like a magnet-feel. I had previously bought a different crossbody bag, it was a little more bulky, and I liked it but the slots for credit cards where to big to keep them in place. After a week one of the straps broke, so I returned that one and bought this one. I have to say I love it and bought 2 for family members. It even fits my cell with an otter box case, and a ton of pockets.
