  • Easy to acquire the target.
This Monstrum Ruckus 5X Prism Scope is really built well. Nice finish and control knobs. It's easy to mount to the rail. I really liked the etching and the red dot functionality. Especially the auto turn off, shake to turn off. It works better than I thought it would. I had no issues dialing it in and I was able to easily track my target. The picture is nice and clear. The scope lens lets plenty of light in. This scope is a little heavier than I would like, but it's high quality. My first time using a scope on a handgun, I like it! ... show more

  • Monster prism scope.
This is a 5X prism scope that has an illuminated reticle, as well as one etched on the glass; having the etched one is nice in case the battery dies. The "more forgiving eyebox" holds true, at least to me. If I don't have a perfect cheek weld for whatever reason, I am still able to acquire the target and send a round downrange without having to reposition. The shake-awake mode is good when using the illuminated reticle (shake-awake is automatically engaged when illumination is activated). If you are shooting/spotting alone and have to go reset your targets, the dot will turn off after ten minutes - this seems like a like time between rounds, but if your target is 600 meters away, it's going to take a few minutes to get to the target, reset it, and get back to home. I try to remember to manually turn off the illumination if I am retrieving or setting up new targets, but, if I forget, it's good to know the illumination will be turned off. This scope is a monster in size compared to some of the others I have, but it's features make it worth the little bit of extra weight and bulk. ... show more

  • Solid optic for the money
When I saw this optic on my feed, I thought of an immediate use for it. When it came in, I examined it. A cursory inspection revealed that it was well-built with a solid feel. Also, something I liked was that the prismatic sight is still usable when the batteries go dead. However, I'm not sure how easily that would happen with this optic's "shake-awake" feature. It was easy to mount this optic, and the torx wrench was provided. It took me more time to figure out the proper eye relief than anything. I noticed that the sight sat high for my taste, but it was still acceptable for my application. I tightened the sight down with the sights turned on to test the shake-awake feature. I was sure to set the weapon so that I could look through the optic without handling it. I went and did something else for a while. When I returned, I looked through the optic. The reticle wasn't illuminated. I picked the weapon up and then looked again. The reticle was lit up, and the advertised feature worked. Satisfied, I stored the weapon for the following day. I left the optic turned on. When I returned the next day to zero, I looked through the optic without disturbing it. It was turned off. I picked up the weapon and looked again. Sure enough, sleep mode worked just fine, and the reticle glowed red. It was time to zero. Following the instructions, I went to the range. The 5x magnification certainly helped me zero. I fired, looked at the point of impact, and adjusted the optic as necessary. Within ten rounds, zeroing was complete. When I cleaned the weapon, I re-tightened the mount screws as you should after the first use. My setup was ready, and this optic has a new home. This is a nice optic for the money. I've used many over the years in my old line of work, and for what it is, this is good. Recommend. ... show more

  • Great scope, a bit heavy
This Monstrum 5x prism scope is pretty cool! I was looking for something for my AR-15 build, and this caught my eye. I have several red dots and thought of going with a prism scope. It feels really solid and well-made, which is important to me. I also like that the reticle is etched in glass, so I can still use it even if the battery dies (although with the shake-awake feature, I don't think that'll happen very often). Mounting was easy, though it took me a little while to get the eye relief just right. The sight sits a bit high, but it's not a deal-breaker for me. The shake-awake feature works like a charm. I tested it by leaving the sight on and coming back to it later, and it turned off like it’s supposed to. As soon as I moved the rifle, it lit right back up. Zeroing was straightforward at the range. The 5x magnification helped a lot, and I had it dialed in within ten rounds. Overall, I’m really happy with this prism scope. It’s a great value for the money, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a solid optic. The only drawback I see of this is that this thing is huge and bulky. It is fine for a range AR, probably even for a hunting gun but not for a home defense weapon. Lastly, it claims of a lifetime warranty though I hope I don't have to use it. ... show more

  • Nice compact clear scope
Monstrum makes good prism scopes that can be relied on for hunting and target shooting. Ruckus is their 5x prism scope with lit recticle. I have mine upon an ar15. Nice recticle too with hash marks for long range shooting. It lights up too. From short to long range it’s on target. Lightweight with a good mount for picatinny rails. The glass is good quality, clear all around. Monstrum backs it up with a lifetime warranty. Five stars. ... show more

  • Clear View Ahead
The Monstrum Ruckus 5X Prism Scope is a sturdy optic with a clear and sharp BDC reticle. Its 'shake awake' feature is especially convenient, as it conserves battery life while ensuring the scope is always ready for action. The construction is solid, making it durable enough to withstand rough use. Although the eye relief can be somewhat limited, the overall performance and build quality make this scope a reliable choice for serious shooters. ... show more

  • Not bad
This optic isn’t bad. My only complaint with it is it’s too big. For what it does I have optics a lot smaller making it easier to store and or carry around. It’s not too heavy & holds zero fine out past 100 yards which is a plus. I’d only wish for a smaller unit.
